Thread on solving the 90-in-180 day problem 🧵 The solutions to the 90-in-180 day problem are many and varied. Politicians really have **no** excuse for inaction. Any of the following provide models for solutions or are solutions in themselves…

At the end of the day, if you’re anti-immigration with regard to Brexit, it doesn’t matter if you’re British opposed to EU27 immigrants or from another EU27 country, opposed to British immigrants. You’re still an arse. #RejoinEU #ExitBrexit

10 years post-EU referendum and 5 since leaving EU & Single Market, we still have people saying: "We used to be able to do that, and we should still be able to". I think that’s wonderful. 👏 ♥️ 🇪🇺 Brexit changed things. But we haven’t forgotten 🇬🇧. #RejoinEU is possible.

Well, my experience is that increasingly these days you can work in other EU countries, even if you only speak English. And fluency in English itself is often a big selling point for British people even if our education systems are lacking somewhat in professional skills.
It's easy already as long as you have language skills and relevant job skills and qualifications. It isn't if you are unqualified and want to do part time low level work. Esp true for young people who want to work while holidaying

They persuade people who don’t like YOU, to vote for THEM, because YOU don’t like THEM. YOU not liking THEM is vital for THEM to be liked by those people. After all, if THEY are YOUR enemies then surely THEY must be friends of those people. That’s populism and is how we fuel it.

There are two ways to beat populism. 1. The first is through organised, clear and transparent government/state Communications. 2. The second is through compassion and understanding. Populism needs anger and resentment to work. We must starve it of fuel and let our humanity

Still cheesed off with the state of the UK after 15 years? Voting for angry people promising vague changes means you ARE the problem. #populism

@NeilHudsonexp Well, I would say that was a problem if the European Parliament or Commission fulfilled the role that the national government is supposed to fill. But while the national governments exist, I don’t think that is a problem.

A thread 🧵 So what do we mean by the 90-in-180-day problem? 1. We don’t mean the total number of days is necessarily the problem. The problem is the control period of 180 days, the fact it has to be shared across 29 different countries and the fact it is not a per-visit

A very good, and very lovely friend of mine died recently. She spent her life living and working all over the world. At her funeral, one of the eulogies mentioned how she hated Brexit with a passion and felt intensely frustrated that her dreams of retiring partly or fully in
