As Prof. Steve Powis steps down from his role, I'd like to thank him sincerely for his clinical leadership of the NHS, both during the pandemic, as well as after. We've had a productive, collaborative relationship, and I wish him the very best for whatever comes next.
After nearly 8 years in the role, this summer I will be stepping down as National Medical Director for NHS England. It has been an immense privilege to serve as National Medical Director and to work alongside so many fantastic colleagues, all dedicated to improving the NHS.
