For every five people recruited, eight are leaving the Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defence lacks a credible plan and is increasingly reliant on its allies.
I asked the Defence Secretary what message he thought this sent to our NATO allies?
According to the
@UN
, 800,000 people have now left Rafah, and it is increasingly clear that nowhere is safe for civilians and their children.
An offensive there would be a humanitarian catastrophe.
I asked the Minister what the consequences for an all-out attack should be?
I joined local residents,
@PauletteHamilto
and
@Raymondg1969
- for the Crime and Community Safety Summit on Castle Vale - together with
@WMPolice
and
@PioneerGrp
- to discuss concerns regarding crime and related matters- and importantly to agree a collective plan of action.
I Chaired the Castle Vale Community Safety Summit today, that provided a voice for locals to raise their concerns about rising crime in the area.
We agreed to setup a task group to look at the issues & report back on progress.
Kudos to local Cllr
@Raymondg1969
for organising 👏🏿
Earlier today, I attended a roundtable event hosted by
@WestMidRailway
,
@GrBhamChambers
and
@bcrre
to discuss the transformation of West Midlands rail.
I called for better connectivity and infrastructure for Erdington, Kingstanding and Castle Vale as part of their 10-year plan.
Congratulations to 2MuchPassion and the YMCA on the grand reopening of Eden Café.
This is yet another excellent example of local groups working together to create a vibrant community space in the heart of Erdington.
It was also wonderful to catch up with so many friends!
Happy
#InternationalNursesDay
to our incredible nurses for everything you do.
Having been a district nurse for 25 years, I know how hard you work and the extraordinary lengths you go to in order to provide life-saving care day in, day out.
You are all truly amazing! 💙
@theRCN
Transport in the West Midlands is often unreliable and inaccessible, which results in increased pollution on our roads.
I'm glad that our new West Mids Mayor,
@RichParkerLab
, is committed to bringing buses back under public ownership.
📺 Watch in full:
Men's health strategies often lack a single point of leadership, which means they can be confusing and difficult to link with other areas.
I asked the Minister at
@CommonsHealth
how the Major Conditions Strategy could ensure a more cohesive approach to addressing these concerns.
At the
@CommonsHealth
final evidence session on Men’s Health, I asked the Minister how the Government was planning to improve early engagement after diagnosis.
Pathways to diagnosis and treatment needs to be clearly identified in the Major Conditions Strategy.
Crime & antisocial behaviour on Erdington High Street continues to be one of the main concerns that locals raise with me.
✍🏿 I have again written to the Chief Constable of
@WMPolice
, as I still await a response to the letter I sent last year, in which I highlighted these issues.
The situation in Rafah is deeply troubling and urgent steps must be taken to prevent further loss of life.
An immediate ceasefire now, the safe release of all hostages and unimpeded humanitarian access into Gaza must be the priority to restore peace in the region.
✍🏿 At the library consultation event in Erdington, I added my name to the Friends of Erdington Library petition reinforcing my commitment to our local libraries.
📚 Libraries play a crucial role in improving literacy and it is important that they continue to serve our community.
Absolutely incredible result for
@UKLabour
and
@RichParkerLab
in the West Midlands.
People across the country have voted for change.
Huge congratulations! 🌹
