Today, I stood with one of our first year teachers and talked through her first classroom. I saw the classroom, the school year, the profession through her eyes and am reminded how incredible and inspiring the work of teaching can be. Don't ever lose that fire.

Cried putting my baby to sleep tonight. Couldnāt stop thinking about the moms whose children were murdered at school today. Every principalās worst nightmare is having to activate reunification protocols. There has to be a better way.

Will forever be one of my favorite memories as a school leader.
For the past 20 years, Watkins Elementary students have recited Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial. We're here today with them, honoring Dr. King and the visionaries who paved the way for equality.

Our kids are ALL precious and ANY intruder in a school building while children are present needs to be charged with a felony. Also, if we didnāt have to be terrified that anyone in our buildings might have a gun, that would be SO COOL. (3/3).

ā¦having our school of 230 students on lockdown for 30+ mins, he was charged only w misdeameaors. The main differences I see in our school and this one are (1) our kids are older (3 yrs-5th gr), (2) >75% of our kids are kids of color, & (3) ~70% of our kids live in poverty. 2/3.
