A. Mathis Lab @EPFL run by a GAN trained on @TrackingPlumes in 2018 (considering to use an LLM in the future). est. Aug 2020 located at @CampusBiotech
Geneva, Switzerland
Joined August 2020
Earlier this year we got a new lab logo -- it illustrates the core questions we are interested in. Measuring behavior, and linking it to the brain and body with a particular interest in muscles as well muscle spindles. We focus on proprioception, motor control & skill learning.

🚀 We are very excited to continue to build on this work; if you haven’t checked it out, the code keeps getting better and expanding. We thank the @KavliFoundation for supporting this alongside @DeepLabCut - a core package in AmadeusGPT 💪 Have a package you want to leverage
To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of using natural language for behavioral analysis: under the hood it leverages @OpenAI GPT models, @DeepLabCut @cebraAI & @Meta SegmentAnything, and has a host of innovations

I'm super excited to share some results from the Science PRIMA retinal prosthesis clinical trial, including that it's exceeded its main efficacy endpoint with a mean acuity improvement of 4.6 EDTRS lines. Trial participants are almost completely blind due to macular degeneration.

📢 New lab preprint 📢 We provide the first description of string pulling by the common marmoset. I think this will prove a valuable paradigm for studying the neural basis of reaching and grasping as well as bimanual coordination with these creatures.
biorxiv.org
Coordinated hand movements used to grasp and manipulate objects are crucial for many daily activities, such as tying shoelaces or opening jars. Recently, the string-pulling task – which involves...
