I really debated whether or not to say something about this HQ doc but enough people have texted me “WTF” that I want to briefly set the record straight
HQ Trivia was supposed to ‘revolutionize television’. But what happens when the people who are running it—“the smartest guys in the room”— don’t actually know what they’re doing? You get a sh*tshow.
My new film “Glitch: The Rise and Fall of

The FBI says Kevin Lyons was "evasive" at first about being inside the Capitol. Then, when agents showed him an Instagram pic he'd taken & posted of Nancy Pelosi's office, he caved.
"Wow, you're pretty good," he said. "That was only up for an hour."
All that to say, you should listen to Boom/Bust! I reported, wrote, and hosted it and I’m proud that it’s such a comprehensive story. The Atlantic put it on its list of best podcasts of 2020.

a lot of influencers conflate credible sexual assault accusations with "cancel culture," but i really hope, for their own well-being, that the gen z folks who work with portnoy at barstool sports will recognize how fucked this is
to all my boom/bust fans who are asking about a quibi season. i love you, and i agree the quibi story is legendary, but you gotta have a boom to have a bust 🤷♀️
...and 3) Their name is nearly identical to the name of my podcast. Mine is Boom/Bust: The Rise and Fall of HQ Trivia. Theirs is Glitch: The Rise and Fall of HQ Trivia. I mean, come on.
I’m not asking for them to pay me. (I don’t own the rights to the original Boom/Bust pod.) Like any other journalist who put serious time and effort into telling a story, I would like credit for the work I did.
First, I just want to clear up that, despite releasing a whole eight-part narrative podcast about HQ Trivia in 2020, I was never invited to be part of this project.
as we approach the 10-year anniversary of the social network, i wrote about how david fincher’s masterpiece has haunted mark zuckerberg’s public reputation

If you listened to my podcast, questions of “who owns the story?” and “what are the ethics of partnering/negotiating with sources?” come up in the final episode. I’m still of the mind that paying a source compromises the story.
The director did reach out to me for reporting guidance (which I gave to her) and hinted at the possibility of interviewing me for the doc. But she never followed up after that. Meanwhile, I’ve received multiple pitch emails from CNN’s PR team to “cover” the doc. But anyway
brb, just dropping off my wife and daughters in cancun by packing a large suitcase full of shorts, going through hours of airport security w/ them during a pandemic, getting on their flight, walking them all the way into the resort, then sleeping there for one night
tucker carlson is clearly inviting his viewership to harass
@TaylorLorenz
and it’s despicable. the harassment that female and poc journalists have to put up with is REAL and i wish people would take it seriously
I recognize that the story of HQ Trivia is not necessarily mine to tell. It’s that of the people involved. FWIW, two former high-up HQ employees are co-executive producers on the doc.
thrilled to share that today
