it's about an Indian man that tried to naturalize as a US citizen at a time when US citizenship was reserved for white or black people. As a Brahmin Indian, he tried to argue in court that he was white on account of the origins of the Aryan people in India.

Actually, "English" is not an ethnic category in the US census. It takes about 10 seconds to look it up. Actually in the official definition "white" designates "origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa"

Wow. You actually run something called "the Centre for English Identity" and you are asking us this. English as I'm sure you know is an ethnic category on the U.S. census. It refers to actual or subjective ancestral origins. Do you want me to revise your course reading list?.
