Hey
#100Devs
folks! I’m so proud of all of you for doing what you’re doing. I admire all of you so much!
Also, I’m a professional web dev, so if there’s ANY way I can help you, please let me know! Networking, coding questions, cheerleading, being a Twitter friend, anything!
Big things planned for
@filamentphp
in 2024! We're so thankful for all of the awesome folks in the community, and we're excited to ship some big updates across the ecosystem for everyone to enjoy!
Check out our post for more details:
I'm excited to announce that I will be starting off on a new adventure in January as a Senior Engineer for
@zillow
!
I'm really looking forward to joining one of Zillow's awesome teams, and best of all, I get to keep working with the Laravel stack I know and love!
And don't…
The backgrounds of the
#100Devs
folks that I've met on Twitter, even just over the past few days, are so diverse and incredible and it makes me SO happy. What a cool group of people! Tech is at its best when the people in it know and are passionate about more than just coding. 🔥
So excited to announce that I'll be speaking at
@LaraconOnline
this year with a talk called "Meaningful Mentorship"!
The conference is streaming for free on YouTube, so make sure to come and learn something new and interesting with us on September 14th!
Interested in trying out
@Neovim
? Check out this quick kickstart video from
@teej_dv
! In 30 seconds, you can go from vanilla nvim to IDE!
If it takes you less time to set up than it took you to read this tweet, it's worth trying, right? 😉
I was genuinely curious about how
@aarondfrancis
was going to top his Sidecar talk, but wow, I kid you not, his talk was the best explanation on MySQL optimization that I've heard in a long time. If you're a web dev working with DBs (so practically all of you), go watch that talk
@devongovett
@adamwathan
Come on man, get down off your high horse and remember that it’s still in Early Access. There’s a civil way to let people know if you think something is missing or if you think there’s a problem—no need to condemn a project the second it launches without a chance to make fixes.
Had this in the works for a while, and dang I'm excited to be working with the fine folks at
@filamentphp
!
Have any ideas for community features or content? Let me know!
Thank you to
@alexandersix_
, our new Head of Developer Relations, for this spectacular summary of the v3.1 release! 🎉
Lots more content to come… thanks Alex!
After two years of working with some of the best developers I've ever met, tomorrow will be my last day at
@kirschbaum_dev
.
I've loved every second of my time at Kirschbaum and I'm extremely proud of the things that we've achieved together! It's been an honor to work with and…
It took us a bit, but now we’re rolling! Introducing Bright Ideas, a
@filamentphp
podcast!
Give episode 1 a listen and hear what’s happening in filament v4!
What are we doing to Filament v4?!?! 😲
You can listen to us talking about it on the new Filament podcast - Bright Ideas, with
@alexandersix_
. Link in the replies!
I've been using
@filamentphp
a lot lately and have found some features that are really handy, even though I don't use them as often as I'd like!
It's easier to talk about them in blog post style, so take a look! Did I miss any of your favorites?
We've loved
@filamentphp
for a while now, and wow am I pumped that we can officially announce this!
Excited to continue to help Filament grow and especially thrilled to keep using it to build awesome stuff! 🔥
Kirschbaum 🤝
@filamentphp
If you’ve used Filament, you know how great of a tool it is for accelerating Laravel development. That’s why we’re thrilled to sponsor
@danjharrin
and his Filament work at Kirschbaum! More in thread.
So so so excited to have opened up the Kirschbaum Apprenticeship Program! It's an amazing opportunity, so drop us a line if you're interested!
(P.S. thanks
@CodeKatrina
for the amazing video!)
I'm getting to use
@filamentphp
more and more at work and on my own projects, and I have to say, it's constantly a huge win for the project when I do.
If you haven't tried it out yet, give it a go! You won't regret it 🙌🏻
Alright, it's finally happening. Going to try
@astrodotbuild
again and see if my experience is better post 1.0. Seems like it should be, since everyone is RAVING about it!
Only 15 days into the new year, and
@filamentphp
delivers on one of our 2024 goals. v3.2 is definitely more than just a "minor" release–go check it out!!
💛 We've just published another "minor" release for
@filamentphp
that should be a major upgrade to your experience!
v3.2 brings a ton of new features, and we really hope you can make good use of them!
I've posted more details about each feature in the thread, blog post soon!
The
@filamentphp
team has been cooking this one up for a LONG time, and there is an incredible amount of features in the 3.1 release! Give it a look! 🔥
🦒 Release day! We're introducing
@filamentphp
v3.1, with a ton of new features that we've cooked up over the last few of months
CSV Imports, query builder, sub-navigation and more 🤩
All features are deployed to our Demo, so you can check them out right now!
@melodymdev
Best advice I was given when starting a new job - document ~everything~ you learn, no matter how big or small. As you keep learning, those notes serve as building blocks that you can snap together to form the basis for larger, more complicated topics.
Any other
#Laravel
developers add static constructors to their custom classes to get that ~lovely~ method chaining?
MyClass::make()->method() over (new MyClass())->method() any day 🔥
For any and all devs, you don’t NEED to write code for 13, 14, or 15 hours a day. Even when you’re learning.
Take time to take care of yourself, explore other interests, connect with other people (or corgis). You learn and perform better when you’re happy and healthy 👍🏻
Hey
#100Devs
folks! Want to get better at freelancing? There's a great video series by the folks over at
@webflow
that you should watch. I don't even use the Webflow platform any more, but to me, this is still the gold-standard in freelancing tutorials 🥇
Best part of streaming software development on Twitch? The community. I have made some AMAZING friends in chat and with other streamers on the platform. Y'all know who you are!
10/10 would recommend. It has absolutely changed my life for the better 🔥
Yep.
@filamentphp
is the best admin package for Laravel right now. I haven't been this impressed with code since I first discovered Laravel.
HUGE thank you to
@awcodes1
for hanging out and guiding me through everything! Was definitely one of the best times I've had on stream 🙌🏻
Who’s getting pumped for
@LaraconOnline
tomorrow?? Tons of great talks queued up—which ones are YOU looking forward to most?
Also, reminder that on Thursday’s stream, we’ll talk about all the cool things from Laracon, so make sure to tune in and tell us what you loved!
Wow. Livewire 3 is 🔥!!! Can't wait to get my hands on it and play around with all the new features. Gotta say, I'm stoked about persistent components and wire:navigate.
Amazing job
@calebporzio
🙌🏻
Tonight’s stream is going to take us back to Filament! But this time, we’re going to play around with some of the best and brightest (ha, puns) Filament plugins I can find!
Have any plugins that you LOVE when building apps with Filament? Let me know and we’ll give them a try!
Amazing talk from
@jessarchercodes
(one of my favorite devs) about my favorite text editor.
"It's important to maintain your tools and keep them sharp"
Tonight on stream we’re going to be building a small app with Laravel, Filament, and Twilio (to send SMS)! If you’re curious how the full project workflow goes, from planning, to agile development, to writing the code, you aren’t going to want to miss this one!
8-11p ET 🔥
Alright beginner Laravel devs! Tonight’s stream is for you!
We’re going through the basics of Laravel from the very beginning! It’ll be 3 hours of step by step app building!
I’ll go from 8(ish) to 11pm ET, so come ask any questions in chat that you want to know!
It's incredible how quick I can build something in
@filamentphp
. Needed a little CMS for a statically-generated site, and I got everything up and running in a few hours. That's practically as long as I'd need to find a third-party CMS and set everything up there. Wild.
What a wild first day for the Bright Ideas podcast! Thanks to all 270 or so of you who downloaded (and hopefully listened)! We're just getting started, so get subscribed and let us know what else you want to hear about
@filamentphp
.
The number of times I got to talk about how quick and easy Laravel makes building enterprise-scale products this weekend at the
@zillow
onsite was astronomical.
It's really incredible what our community has been able to build together 🔥
If you're around, come on out! Big thanks to
@joetannenbaum
for having me (and big thanks to Zillow for scheduling a work trip to NYC for that same week 😅)
Next PHP × NYC meetup is on the books!
Join us April 25th at the Zillow offices in midtown Manhattan (thank you,
@therobfonz
)!
@alexandersix_
and I will be speaking, it's gonna be a blast. RSVP here:
@MarcoPlainly
I’m definitely biased, but
@filamentphp
is the perfect solution for what you’re looking for. And it’s free and open-source with an amazing plugin ecosystem and support team 🔥
@codewithdary
Like PHP? Livewire + Alpine
Like a more JS-focused front-end experience? Svelte all the way.
Svelte pairs so well–it has syntax that gets out of your way and just lets you write JS without a ton of boilerplate. Reminds me of how Laravel handles PHP code! Simple and elegant.
Massive thanks to everyone who turned up today for the
@filamentphp
2024 Kickoff event! It was a blast getting to chat with y'all about what we have in store for the upcoming year.
You can expect a written summary of our 2024 goals sometime in the next few days, and an uploaded…
Want more information on what features are included in our new v3.2 release? Check out our official release notes blog post!
Thanks to
@alexandersix_
for writing this up!
A huge, incredibly well-deserved congratulations to
@teej_dv
! Neovim and Telescope let me do my best work every day, and he's just an all around great guy. Have fun, you've earned it!
Y'all. There are some AMAZING
@filamentphp
features coming through the pipe soon, and I am SO excited to start using them in my projects!
Keep your eyes on Filament over the next month or so! 🔥
Getting back to streaming tonight by building out a client project with
@filamentphp
on Twitch!
Also, new computer, so we'll probably have to do some stream debugging along the way.
Come hang out tonight at 8:15p ET! Follow for go-live notifications!
Can we all just stop for a minute and acknowledge that
@rissa_bubbles
STOPPED her presentation mid-sentence, hopped over to a terminal, demoed git interactive rebase LIVE, and then went back to the talk like nothing happened???
Absolutely the live coding MVP of the day. Wow. 🤯
Did you know that
@laracasts
has a dedicated page for the roadmap of learning Laravel step-by-step?
List of levels with their courses. Convenient learning path!
I've had a few
#100Devs
folks ask me about ways to get more unstructured practice building websites–I love using
@goodbriefio
on the "Website" setting to generate some interesting prompts!
Try it out here if you're interested:
Tonight on stream, I have a few things I want to get knocked out:
1. Play with creating a dark mode toggle with
@tailwindcss
(somehow I've never done this)
2. Build a
@filamentphp
plugin to help with SSG projects (more on that during stream)
Come hang out from 8-11p ET!
Massive thanks to PHPxNYC (
@joetannenbaum
) for having me last night!
Biggest takeaway: people of the area: y’all rock
Related takeaway: why did everyone I talk to have killer conference talk/tech ideas last night? Mind-blowing.
@hashnode
Learn, reflect, and grow under intentional, hands-on mentorship in the workplace. That’s a recipe for long-term success for everyone involved in a lot of cases 🙌🏻
It's finally here! This is one of the biggest updates I've seen on one of the best Laravel packages that exists.
Give it a try if you haven't already--you'll be blown away by the quality and speed of the applications you can build with
@filamentphp
🚀 We just launched
@filamentphp
v3, with...
A ton of new features 🎉
A completely refreshed UI (by
@zepfietje
) 🎨
A beautiful new website (by
@HassanZahirnia
) 😍
Livewire 3 support 🪼
Double the docs of v2!! 🤓📚

Did you see that this years
@LaraconOnline
will be entirely free and will stream on YouTube?
This will be the biggest Laracon yet - and will unite the community even more ❤️
Do you love building apps with Laravel? Are you a mid or senior level developer based in the US?
The Aryeo team at
@zillow
is hiring again! These are remote, US-only positions, so if you fit those criteria, apply with the links in the replies! DM if you have any questions 👍
Ton of fun streaming tonight–thanks to everyone who dropped by and hung out! Definitely more conversation than coding tonight, but we laid the groundwork for our app and are ready to go again next week!
Stream happens every Thurs. from 8-11pm! Hope to catch you in the next one!
Excited to see everyone in Dallas! Come find me and the rest of the
@AryeoHQ
dev team while you're there–it'll be great to finally meet all you awesome folks in person!
Maybe we'll have an unofficial little
@filamentphp
group meetup while we're there, too 🔥
Wow, I finally dug into
@linear
, and now I get why everyone is so excited about it! If you're looking for a way to develop software (alone or with a team), don't miss out!
Sorry folks, no stream tonight! Getting prepped for my
@LaraconOnline
talk, so make sure to tune in on YT this Wednesday Sep. 14 at 4:30p ET to hear it live!
I’ll be back streaming again on Thursday so we can talk about all the amazing Laracon talks that happened the day before!
Going to be working on a few last functional features for the Nextjs portfolio site tonight on stream! Also, big exciting announcement, so drop in and hang out for a while!
I'll be out and about this evening, so stream might start a bit late, but we'll get going around 8-8:30p!
Filament v3.1 is finally out, and it's PACKED with some incredible features that you can take advantage of right away!
Take a look and check out our favorite features from the release!
Ugh, sorry folks, no stream tonight. Eye is swollen something fierce, and let's be honest, learning Rust is going to be hard enough with BOTH eyes, let alone one.
Let's push the Rust stream to Thursday, shall we?
I'm not one for chatting in Discord servers much, but I really love the
@filamentphp
server. So much inspiration just from the help channel--feels like I discover a new Filament feature just from browsing the top few questions every day 🙌
@stolinski
@caddyserver
Caddy is such an amazing (and somehow still underrated) piece of software! We use it to manage our servers at work and it is probably the most reliable piece of our whole infrastructure stack 💪🏻
@nixcraft
- Never stop learning, because you don't know everything
- Share what you know, because the rest of us don't know everything
- Build up others in the field
- Never, EVER be afraid to ask questions
We have two incredible Apprentices starting at
@kirschbaum_dev
tomorrow, and I am SO excited!
#Laravel
community, what advice do you have for them as they get started learning about being full-stack Laravel developers?
✨ Just added a new page to the Laravel Package Ocean website showcasing the top Laravel packages based on GitHub stars! 🏆
Thrilled to see
@filamentphp
hit the top 3! 🤩👏
👇 Link below.
#laravel
Awesome stream tonight! Gotta say, building plugins for
@filamentphp
is unbelievably simple. Great work from the Filament team for creating such an easy-to-use system. All I can say is wow.
Thanks everyone for hanging out! We'll be live again on Monday at the same time 👍🏻
I think on tonight's stream we're going to handle authentication for our coffee chat app! We'll need to do some front- and back-end dev to make it all work nicely.
We'll be going from 8-11p EDT on Twitch, so come join the fun and let's build something awesome!
It's what it's all about, folks. So excited to talk with y'all about mentorship at
@LaraconOnline
! It's free to watch on YouTube, so tune in on Sep. 14 to see some incredible sessions from some even more incredible people 🙌🏻
Friday affirmation:
@themsaid
is seriously one of the best programmers to follow on Twitter. Honestly one of the nicest guys in the world and a RIDICULOUSLY good dev. Give him a follow if you haven't already.
Today's the day! Come hang out in stream tonight at 8(ish) pm Eastern US time and ask all your questions about being a new/junior developer in the tech space!
#100Devs
folks, if you've wondered what working in tech is like, come and get some insights from
@rissa_bubbles
!
I'm so excited for us to reveal some of the plans that the team has been working hard on over the past few months! So much good stuff is coming to Filament in 2024!!
I'm also just pumped to get to hang out with the Filament community for a little while tomorrow 🙌🏻
We're only ONE day away from our 2024 Kickoff Event!
Looking for an awesome way to start your new year? Come hang out and talk about Filament with all of your best friends from the Filament community!
Yes yes, it's late, but I finally pulled together my 2023 year in review! It was nice to write something casually for a change 🙌🏻
Gotta shout out
@aarondfrancis
for the inspiration to write this one!
The most up-to-date Laravel 11 course in the world begins today on Laracasts.
"30 Days to Learn Laravel"
I'm about to send out the Day 1 email blast. If you'd like me to email you each day with the next episode, add your email address here. 🔥
Tonight on stream, we're going to be diving back into
@filamentphp
! I want to build a real, useful plugin, so that's what we're going to do!
Come along and let's learn together how to build Filament plugins for Laravel! Stream is from 8-11p Eastern, so mark your calendars!
I'm thinking about starting to do some beginner Laravel tutorials during my Twitch streams once or twice a month. What beginner level topics do you think could do with a little more explaining?
Super fun stream with
@helloitsrufio
tonight! Always so fun to be a guest over there!
Also, we crossed 200 followers during stream! Great to have y'all as part of the community–y'all are what makes our little corner of the dev world so great 🔥
Streaming some research work I’m doing tonight—going to try out a new plugin to make
@filamentphp
into a block-based CMS!
We’ll also likely need to continue tweaking the custom Neovim config we made last stream!
Starting @ 8(ish) ET on Twitch!
And to think I literally said the words “I can’t even imagine what
@filamentphp
could do to be better than it already is” just last night. Once again, proved wrong—
@awcodes1
is a FANTASTIC addition to the team 🎉🎉
Please give a warm welcome to
@awcodes1
, our newest member of the
@filamentphp
team! 💛
Adam has built a ton of useful Filament plugins, and made lots of contributions to our codebase already. You may see him around our Discord community and on
@alexandersix_
livestreams 😂
After some reflection on yesterday's
@LaraconOnline
, I've had this thought:
I love how varied our community is when it comes to how we write code. We saw a talk all about using types, followed by a talk where the presenter didn't use any types at all. And both were incredible.
Get in while it’s hot!
I’ve been writing Laravel apps since v4, and my lifetime Laracasts subscription is literally the best career investment I’ve ever made.
