When "Hey Ya!" came out, I was a dishwasher at Applebee's... I remember a moment when I was putting plates back up on line, all the cooks heads were bobbing in unison... They didn't plan this.. but just due to the nature of he music, all the heads just bobbed in unison

It seems to me there's a lot of confusion around the words "humble" & "humility" — people seem to understand these words very differently — the nature of humility is kind of a mystery Humility is at cross-purposes with the ego... anything to do with the ego is a tricky subject

It is true though, in being exalted, immediately it brings thoughts to mind like "maybe, truth be known, I don't exactly deserve this award, there are many others pretty much exactly like me" So in that sense it actually might humble you to receive it

I have to think that, usually, receiving a prestigious award tends to inflate one's self-conception. Maybe more honest to say "I'm incredibly exalted to receive this award."

People always say they are incredibly humbled when they receive a prestigious award. How often is this actually true? Typically we are incredibly humbled in our lowest, most vulnerable, and most embarrassing moments.

Listening to all the people going through the new Epstein emails, one thing is clear to me: most journalists don't know what "the dog that didn't bark" means

Let the market decide what type of internet people want to engage in

What type of internet would you devote your attention to if you could chose (For me, I think it'd be 28% commercial internet, 68% organic internet, and 4% automized internet)

I think we need three separate internets One internet that has AI & bots, allowing for mechanized content Another internet for people striving to make money from producing content And a third internet for people working regular jobs to talk about their interests & ideas

Life could be a lot better if we stopped playing our music out loud in the workplace with electronic devices, and just listened to that privately with an earpiece if we need to have music noise playing at every hour of our waking lives

Watched all of TWIN PEAKS THE RETURN over three nights at the Egyptian Theater. That shit changed me. To aim for anything less than total vision—immersion within an actual open world created by the artist-demiurge—is failure. Maybe the greatest work of art of the century so far

I don't understand why a store would want to operate in this way, to make it hard to buy a lot of their merchandise, how can that be advantageous to them ?

The hardware store I go to has more & more of their tools locked up The thing that confuses me is that it's increasingly hard to find an employee to open the lock-up if you want to buy something If you do find someone, they seem a little irritated to be asked to open the case
Absolutely unbelievable. They just locked up ALL the batteries in my local Walmart. Every single week I have walked in here and yet another item is now locked behind glass. It’s barely worth shopping here at all… what are we doing to society that has brought us here?

One thing I miss most about being a cook is the long running in jokes I had with with my co-workers — tradespeople can be funny, but it's not even close to being the same

Was listening to some videos & clips today, back to back, from Saagar Enjeti, Candace Owens, and J.D. Vance, and they all used the word "fake" Different valences to the usages, but all kind of hinged on the idea that something was not "really real" —
