It takes 0.33 seconds to generate a JSONL file of a directory's contents - 1811 files and details. It takes 183 milliseconds to transfer that file over the network. Why does it take tens of seconds to enumerate the same directory over NFS or SMB? (macOS client, Linux server.)

Okay, yeah, this is a nice modality (for me) to work with LLMs like #Claude for spitballing/brainstorming: dictation mode (macOS in this case, you do you) for talking to the model, and just reading its output as text (since that's faster and comfier than listening).
