A colleague of mine who had been pulled up last month for being sluggish and inefficient, died of stomach cancer last week.
There was so much chatter about his performance and how he needs to put on PIP. He took a couple of weeks off to get his head right, went to the doctor
And learnt by chance he has an advanced level of cancer and then couple of weeks later passed away.
Thatโs it..just like that! Another reminder of how cruel life is.
During that entire time..people spent days in analysing how many hours he needs to reverse in his timesheet
But not so much in reaching out and checking how he was.
We take so many things including life for granted..safely assume that when people turn up for work they bring their 100% selves to the workplace.
Zero consideration for what a day/week/month he or she might be having.
Even the โhope youโre wellโ and โhow are youโs we casually throw around are to just meet a societal norm than coming from any point of actual concern.
We expect to be treated better yet treat others in the same way we donโt like being treated.
Another day where you
@Kumbudu_saami
To be honest I didnโt know the person. He was helping out in some parts of the project. But this just stuns you and puts everything back into perspective.

Huggs jaw. This is a stark reminder of how fleeting everything is and how every moment is precious. Being kind (to oneself and to others as much as possible) is something we can all do. You take care ๐ค
@ajaw_
Sorry for your loss...
This thread is painful, hard-hitting.
It's a sad disappointing state, we need everyday reminder:
"You never know what someone is going through. So be kind."
