We welcome Labor’s newfound enthusiasm for cutting red tape, but the starting point is they need to eat their own red tape. They should also reconsider putting their faith in housing bureaucracies.

Labor spent 3 years sticking red tape on everything that moved. 5,034 new regulations. In the housing space, they made the National Construction Code more complex. Ed Husic said an NCC freeze would result in shoddy ‘hot boxes’.

Labor has let white collar crime rip in Australia. Mr Chalmers hasn’t bothered responding to the Senate report into ASIC. They don’t care about law enforcement. They don’t care about the victims.

In their first term, Labor introduced over 1,500 new regulations into the Treasury and Infrastructure space where housing sits. Now the Minister says regulation is bad! Labor doesn’t even agree with their own policies.
