New fastest shortest-path algorithm in 41 years! Tsinghua researchers broke Dijkstra’s 1984 “sorting barrier,” achieving O(m log^(2/3) n) time. This means faster route planning, less traffic, cheaper deliveries, and more efficient networks - and a CS curriculum revamp =)

Have you ever wondered why the philosophy of Baruch Spinoza [1677], a Jewish man, is eerily and strikingly similiar to Upanishadic thought? Heinrich Roth in Agra's Jesuit school studied Upanishads from 1654-1662. And it was another ex-Jesuit Van den Enden who gave it to Spinoza.

You see these manhole covers? They are made in, made by, installed in and installed by Indians. So good news is, we know how to level manholes without creating a 3 feet protruding structure. Then why the hell is it not replicated on our public roads !! cc:@parija_d

We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers. The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

Since cloud seeding is in news, here's a legendary throwback video of former Addl IT Commissioner, Vishwa Bandhu Gupta, IRS, sharing his expert opinion on the topic. Let’s not forget, he cleared the civil services, so naturally, he’s part of the intellectual cream of the nation.

Hearing distressing reports of democratic backsliding from Western North America. I hope the Government of India will use its good offices to impress upon all involved parties the need for dialogue and the importance of non-violent democratic processes.

India is losing its ancient knowledge faster than we realize. Millions of palm-leaf manuscripts, rare scrolls, and civilizational texts lie forgotten, decaying in the corners of temples and libraries. But one team is changing that. eSahithya Documentation Forum has digitized over

I’m stoked to share our new paper: “Harnessing the Universal Geometry of Embeddings” with @jxmnop, Collin Zhang, and @shmatikov. We present the first method to translate text embeddings across different spaces without any paired data or encoders. Here's why we're excited: 🧵👇🏾

and practically, this is bad for vector databases. this means that even if you fine-tune your own model, and keep the model secret, someone with access to embeddings alone can decode their text embedding inversion without model access 😬

excited to finally share on arxiv what we've known for a while now: All Embedding Models Learn The Same Thing embeddings from different models are SO similar that we can map between them based on structure alone. without *any* paired data feels like magic, but it's real:🧵

First the West's authoritarian overlords nullified Romania's election because their disfavored candidate won. Then, polls show he'd win in the do-over, so they just banned him from the ballot. Now their puppet-candidate finally won, and they claim "democracy" has triumphed.
