How complex 3D tissue shape emerges during animal development remains an important open question in biology and biophysics. Although it is well-established that tissue-scale patterns of in-plane cell...

Finally defended my PhD 🎓🥳Looking back, it seems like such a difficult but wonderful journey. It was not possible without the support of my supervisors @NatalieADye and @carldmodes. Thank you Natalie for stepping up for this role and inspiring me with your courage & dedication.
In 2019, I took over the supervision (at least partial) of 6 students from Suzanne Eaton @eaton_lab. Today the last one @abhijeet095 , shared with @carldmodes on an awesome collaboration, defended his thesis. Congratulations! 🎉 @mpicbg @PoLDresden @imprs_mpicbg. Papers coming!

Ever wonder whether morphogens can regulate energy metabolism in a growing tissue during animal development? We did too, and we just published a paper about it @emboreports!🎉🥳@bolzony_Nel @eaton_lab, in collaboration with @nadlerlab @mpicbg @PoLDresden

When I first saw the poster I asked Alicja if I could stare at it for the rest of the day and I then did. Congrats Alicja :)
Congratulations to Alicja Szalapak from @carldmodes lab to the 2nd poster prize at #eesmechanobiology Her poster is indeed a piece of art, I used many elements in my talk! Credits to the whole #cephalic #furrow @mpicbg @csbd team: @bc_vellutini @abhijeet095 & @CuencaM15

Well written @mkjolly15 "While collaborating with theoretical physicists, I am a cancer biologist; while working with cancer biologists, I am a physicist. Such identity crises are the norm, rather than the exceptions, of interdisciplinary research."

Before this, I always thought that ECM is a beast to understand. Very happy for the long discussions this led to. It's SOO much fun to interact with @KarenSoans
And here it is! After some delay the fantastic manuscript by the even greater @KarenSoans is on @biorxivpreprint ! Wonderful cross-disciplinary effort to understand how matrix topology can guide cell migration. Thanks to all collaborators! This was fun! https://t.co/YudKGB0LgE

Since everyone is doing their top 100 books lists and such, here are my top 100 Indian reads of 2021. 1. The Good Girls: An Ordinary Killing by Sonia Faleiro. A stunning read of how patriarchy works in the country and what led to the death of two teenage girls, children really.

Some coincidences are truly amazing... Like our new preprint on dynamical flexible logic gates in regulatory networks from @mr_bahadorian out today https://t.co/Ppt5px4D3k the same day @xkcdComic brings (humorously) similar combined logic gates. Check it out! @mpicbg @csbdresden
