Part of it is understanding that maybe the system that worked for you leaves far too many people behind and having the empathy required to imagine a better world with more equality. I also don’t understand the mindset of someone with so much privilege wanting to hoard so much.
I will never get the mindset of someone coming here, his family becoming millionaires in Hollywood and academia and then saying - you know what, everything about the system that worked for my family in America is trash and needs to be more like a 3rd world autocracy.

This is precisely how anti-Palestinian racism manifests. You don’t have to be Palestinian to be a victim of it. And if you’re part of any marginalized group and you advocate for the basic rights of Palestinians—as in Mamdani’s case—your identity will be weaponized against you.
The attacks on Mamdani are anti-Muslim but important to note the anti-Muslim racism is a VEHICLE to discipline his anti-zionism. If Mamdani spouted “two state solution” / “Israel has a right to defend itself” pablum he’d be doing Vanity Fair photo shoots with Hillary Clinton rn.
