PSA: Issuing ultimatums, yelling, or engaging in really passive agressive behavior doesn't bring people closer to you. And if you're using this type of approach on people who have lived through (or currently living in) an abusive relationship, it really, really, doesn't work.

Someone I care about, someone precious to me, someone who actually gets me, and who has been a friend and confidante to me was in the crowd in #KC this afternoon. Until I heard that they were safe, I was in full on panic. The idea that I could lose this person... No. I can't.

Quick post b/c getting messages asking if I'm ok after the Superbowl Parade. Thanks to those reaching out. I'm safe & apologize if I have not answered anyone. Just a little chaotic right now trying to check in w/ other family & friends to determine if everyone ok.

Pt upset b/c hospital sandwich didn't have cheese, bacon, etc (cardiac diet). Him, yelling: "IT'S BIDEN'S FAULT." He's serious. Me: "I've worked here for 24 yrs. Same sandwich under Bush, Obama, Trump & Biden. It's just hospital food." Him: "HE PLANNED THIS SHIT SINCE '99!!"😅

For nurses week this year, the hospital is collecting money from the nurses to make gift baskets for a silent auction - to benefit the hospital foundation. I don't really give a shit about Nurses Week in general, but I had to laugh about this one. Classic.

Didn't really realize how much I might miss this place until these last few weeks of chaos. Figured I'd tweet more again someday when my life steadied itself. Didn't figure on Twitter as a Dumpster Fire by then.

My patient is mad at me b/c he's convinced he's going to die tonight & he wants me to climb into bed & die with him. That way we can be together in the next life b/c he likes my hair. I told him I have other pts to care for as well. He filed a complaint.

And I'm so glad I said, "Sure." Tomorrow morning I'll wave goodbye to her & tomorrow night someone else will toss back a shot of Slivovitz to toast the night. And I hope their life is better for it, as is mine.

in some other state. Spending time w/ her was like the universe reminding me of life when I still felt alive. I'm so thankful someone I know, knows someone, who knows someone, who knows this lady because they met briefly while touring Greece.

frugally, saved up & went for it. Last week she stayed with some family in The Navajo Nation. Then she drove 18 hrs & is here. At home in my kitchen - made me Okurový salát while I cooked pasta & then we toasted the night w/ Slivovitz. Tomorrow she's off to another adventure

side of Chicago for $2K. Idk how she got it all licensed but I bet it's a good story. She's staying w/ people who may know someone she knows or used to know from years ago when she studied here. Doing it all on a pretty meager salary. But she lived (& lives)

Hosting an acquaintance of an acquaintance of an acquaintance for couple days. Quiet, unassuming yet actually total bad ass lady from the Czech Republic. Touring the US alone in what could only be "powered by miracles" little car she bought from some random dude on the south
