Polkadot and Kusama community, we are excited to let you know that bridging ERC-20 tokens to Kusama AssetHub, through Polkadot AssetHub, is now possible! 🏂 🐦. In Snowbridge V2 (expected in Q3 2025), direct bridging from Ethereum to Kusama AssetHub will be supported.

We also have plans to solve asset fragmentation, improve speed and costs and a public-facing dashboard to gamify and grow excitement around our growth efforts!.

If we want critical infrastructure like Snowbridge to exist as a public good, it has to be funded as one. Otherwise, teams are incentivized to privatize and extract (via tokens, chains, or VC terms). We chose the public path.

We've exceeded the deliverables in our 4-year plan and are requesting the final milestone incentive based on a transparent, fixed budget model presented since 2022. This cost was planned, discussed, and successfully voted on twice already.

We've completed all our completed milestones (of which DOT holders have full ownership), shipped a large amount of additional features beyond them, and now Snowbridge's TVL is more than $60 million (second largest in the ecosystem, achieved in the first year) and is growing.

From the start, we outlined a clear, milestone-based delivery plan and associated incentive funding. This pricing has remained unchanged and has been ratified twice by OpenGov referenda.

In 2022, we submitted a proposal to build Snowbridge, a trustless Ethereum Polkadot bridge. We explicitly committed to delivering it as a public good, without launching a token, parachain, or raising VC funding.
