I had experienced this hard. As an employee I had clear tasks and even sometimes got feedback. Then I went solo and nothing! Have to set my own goals; nobody gave me feedback; the quiet days can be tough! Start as a side project and keep your job. Stay sane!

This is sad, but hopefully a system shock big enough that politicians can no longer rest on their car-industry financed cushions and do something to make this country attractive to founders. Germans have not lost their ingenuity, but they have lost to bureaucracy.
