I'm going to get rich and this is how I’m going to do it. Part 2. Now don’t take me wrong, I’m not rich yet. But I'm closer. 4 years ago I was laid off, and this is what happened... https://t.co/d3Vrr4T6rG
I'm going to get rich and this is how I’m going to do it. Now don’t take me wrong, I’m not rich yet. I did my CS degree and worked as a software developer just like my parents expected. Every day I worked for my 80k/y startup job. Then last month I was laid off. ...

I'm a bootstrapped founder in Germany — if you're on a similar path, let's connect.

Book: I got burned out from business podcasts and switched to audiobooks. Game changer! Now I look forward to walking my kid for nap time. Red Rising is hard sci-fi Game of Thrones — my absolute recommendation. 🎧

Fail 2: I let myself get stressed out way too much this year. We went on a spa vacation with my family and I didn't even enjoy it. That was a wake-up call. Mental-health time comes first now.

Fail 1: I had a bad experience hiring developers for Stagetimer. I was a bad manager, I didn't know what to expect or what expectations to set. It cost me a lot of money for very little to show. I've learned from it and with the 3rd try it's working much better now.

Win 3: I started flying lessons. The first time I flew between the clouds I couldn't believe how awesome it is that I get to do this. A bucket list dream I can finally afford. There's something about flying that I can't quite describe. I love it, it gives me peace. ✈️

Win 2: I have a son now. I just chased him through the house giggling and laughing. Then he cried at the dinner table for 10 minutes straight because he didn't want his food. It's like this every day. 😆

This is my 2025 recap: 3 Wins, 2 Fails, 1 Book Win 1: CapitalOne, RedBull and Coca Cola purchased Stagetimer — just in the last month. It's surreal. I built a software tool that companies worldwide use. ...

I just had to roll back a release because I broke somebody's show. I'm kinda ashamed 😬

This is what I have to do to avoid pushing an update while one of my users is mid-show. I made this custom thing in @posthog showing me the busiest hours of Stagetimer. It makes me jealous of other founders who can just break their app and not get angry emails within 2 minutes.

This is sad, but completely understandable! Germany has great quality of life, but it's a disappointing place for ambitious young people. 1st step to change that: Make it easier to start and run a company!
My wife and I are seriously thinking about moving from Germany 🇩🇪 to the US 🇺🇸 That‘s a tough choice, but we don‘t see any other options. We don’t like the language, the bureaucracy, the weather, and the life prospects here. We’re young and ambitious and it just feels like

My family thinks that I am lucky to have my own business and financial freedom. It's not luck, it's years of deliberate action.

Also true for bootstrappers. Easy recipe for failure: Build a slop product you don't care about for people without intention to pay for it.
The intersection of: 1. Your obsession 2. An ICP that actually exists 3. Markets with budget allocated 4. A product that’s at least interesting and decent Maybe that’s already a strategy, early on. Most folks don’t have even that. No wonder they fail.

I'm thinking of hiring a marketing graduate fresh of college and give them full freedom to find a marketing channel that works. Is this a stupid idea? Had anyone experience hiring fresh graduates?

I had multiple people working with me, most need close guidance and take energy. But then I got lucky and found someone who gets me quickly and saves me energy. It's not you, these people exist. If you find them, keep them at all costs! It's worth it!

German politicians could learn a thing or two from this man. Currently Germany is destroying its own demographic future, puts additional burdens on the young, and hinders entrepreneurship. A dangerous path.
Expensive real estate destroys demographics. Any society that traps its young people in debt, because of expensive education or expensive housing or expensive health care (or all of the above in many cases) is a society that is destroying its own demographic future. If you love
