This + the PCN DES for PSA screening is a bonkers approach to a screening programme. Either it's worth funding a REAL screening programme, or it's not (my understanding is that the evidence for asymptomatic PSA is mixed). Asking primary care to test >15 million men?.

One in eight men will get prostate cancer. Men at higher risk are: . ◼️ aged over 50 .◼️ those with a family history of the disease .◼️ black men over 45 . If that’s you, speak to your GP. Check your risk in 30 seconds:

Is chronic Lyme a real thing? .Probably. Does a private clinic offering to "rectify your Krebs cycle" make any sense at all?.Financially speaking, absolutely.

Breaking a substantial twitter silence for an important reason. If someone can find me the person who selected the music for the video on "how to treat a nosebleed" it would be much appreciated.

The final few months of GP training are a wild west of desperate job offers. Places I've been overtly sounded out include:.-At the park with my kids chatting to another parent.-By a patient (GP) during our consultation.-On twitter.-Unsolicited phone calls. #GPrecruitmentcrisis.

In ST1 paediatrics I was being shown around during induction (casually dressed). I was the first to walk in. Nurse brandishing phlebotomy kit: "Just roll up your sleeve and sit down in here and we'll get on with it, you don't need numbing cream". Reader, she thought I was 14.

First day yesterday. Introduced myself. One nurse (while laughing): ‘sorry, I just can’t take you seriously, you don’t look like a doctor, you look 19 at best. How old are you? You’re going to really struggle to get anyone to take you seriously’.

Me: "Oh yeah, part of the reason I chose GP is because I want to be able to manage chronic disease". Also me: "Oh, I see you haven't had an asthma review for a while. please book in with the practice nurse".

worth clarifying.1) The individual in question had/has no level of oversight of me, it was an informal chat.2) It became abundantly clear during this selfsame chat that they were very burnt out and waiting to retire.

Good morning to everyone except the consultant who told me that working Less-Than-Full-Time is selfish and unfair on everyone else 🙄.

This tweet brought to you by the Rudi Virchow and Paul Farmer fan club. (also basically just a repackaged @AperolFitz tweet).

I find it wild that I have had more formal teaching on Langhan's giant cells than on treating asylum seekers; by a factor of infinity

The people at *that* protest are definitely the same people who get all shouty when you tell them that cosmetic surgery isn't NHS funded.
