only on here to yell at rail companies and the health secretary. Opinions my own, but we can share them if you like. Black Lives Matter. Let’s end homelessness.

For a week now, I have been on the Greek island of Lesvos with @Bootvlucht to provide medical care to refugees living in the camp there. The work this organisation does is vital, filling a huge gap in services to help maintain health and dignity. 🧵…

Al Shifa hospital was raided, utterly destroyed, its staff detained, tortured, executed. They also matter. They also deserve our rage. They are also just like us.

This attack on World Central Kitchen workers was vile, but we can’t act like it is the first slaughter of aid workers in Palestine. Reports of medics under fire have been coming out of Palestine for YEARS.

“Oh they’re just like us!” . Talk about saying the quiet part out loud. This phrase used over and over to refer to Ukrainian victims of war, but never once for Afghanistan, Sudan, Congo, Yemen, Syria. Not for Palestine.

We saw this same reaction when Ukrainian refugees arrived in the Calais Jungle. How could they be left to endure such awful conditions?! There was horror & outrage that have never been raised on the same scale for all the other refugees stuck there for years. White. Supremacy.

It causes me sheer mental desperation to note that amidst the sustained starvation and obliteration of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, some people draw their moral line at the killing of Europeans.

Justifying unfair wages for people because you personally don’t think they matter is vile behaviour. Seymour is being transparent here. This is what sits at the heart of ACT’s politics.

Even if none of those things happen, this means a decrease in one persons pension contributions. Less to put away in savings. Accepting these things in favour of having a partner who “can provide” is what has kept women poor and powerless for LARGE CHUNKS OF HISTORY.

You can’t just say someone’s income doesn’t matter because they (hypothetically!) have a partner who earns more. What if that partner is abusive/controlling? What if they break up, or the higher earner dies or loses their job?.

It is giving misogyny. This is an attack on already disadvantaged workers, but shit like this also disproportionately disadvantages women and contributes to the gender pay gap.

David Seymour: It's fine to shaft minimum wage earners actually because many of them are just students or partners. Everyone knows the partners of the real "breadwinner" are less deserving of fair wages right? 🙃

If you are, however, a pakeha feeling a bit put out by this, and you wonder where the “NZ European friendly spaces” are, don’t worry! Auckland has a Costco now, I’m pretty sure there will be an Ikea soon, and there are at least NINE Nando’s places nationwide 👍.

Yes it is! The sign did not spark shit. It was Ministers in government loudly proclaiming lies & an organised media campaign to get NZ outlets to popularise it. Everyone involved should be ashamed. Neither Stuff nor Newshub has provided context for why these spaces exist, either.

I could say a lot about this comment from the deputy PM being the same kind of click bait, culture wars nonsense currently eating many political systems alive, but I think instead I will say this:. Winston Peters is a silly prick.
