Really honoured to win the
@NCTJ_news
Student Of The Year award! Thanks so much to
@NewsAssociates
for all your help and guidance, and to
@SkyNews
for taking me on as a freshly qualified journalist! 😊📝🏆
Seeing the Queen sat alone is a deeply upsetting sight - my heart goes out to her, but also to the many thousands of families who’ve also had to grieve lost loved ones during the pandemic
I wouldn’t wish that experience on anybody
#PrincePhilipfuneral
.... at which point most university terms are over
Students can’t discuss their work with lecturers, but they could with a tattoo artist, hairdresser, or while at the zoo or on holiday ?¿
If unis are moving online till Mid February then they should cancel all rent payments and bring back safety nets for this years exams - if anything this year group has been more disrupted by all this
4 years ago I spent two weeks at
@SkyNews
for work experience. It made me sure for the first time that journalism was for me.
Today was my first day as a full-time Output Producer at Sky News! 🥳📺
Feeling very grateful that the hard work has paid off 🤗
What could have been a quiet, respectful, peaceful and socially distanced vigil has turned into scenes that will further undermine the already serious lack of trust young women have in the police
disgraceful handling of an incredibly sensitive and important issue
#ClaphamCommon
Bit bizarre that you’re allowed to go on a (domestic) holiday from Monday but there’s still no suggestion students are going to be allowed back to uni
I know many have gone anyway, but for unis that don’t use private accommodation they’re forced to not allow their students back
WHY does every decision the U.K. government makes have to come through leaks or speculation - a bit of clarity would spare millions of families and businesses so much anguish and confusion, it’s really just appalling
I don’t have even a fraction of the following that
#CarolineFlack
has and the hate forums and horrible comments about me online have shaped who I am and contributed in no end to my struggles with anxiety and eating - I cannot even begin to fathom how she must have been feeling 😔
Struggling to sleep after an evening covering the Nottingham attacks… two 19-year-olds with their whole lives ahead of them senselessly murdered after a night out with friends, just so unspeakably sad. My thoughts are with their friends and families 💔
Delighted to say I've been offered a place on the fast-track NCTJ course at
@NewsAssociates
in London, starting in September! 🙌
Can't wait to get stuck in - just got to get my degree all finished first.... 😊
That’s an astonishing number of complaints - bearing in mind the highest amount of complaints to Ofcom in the last decade was 25,327 (the Celebrity Big Brother ‘punch gate’ scandal)
We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain under our harm and offence rules.
As of 14:00 on Tuesday 9 March, we have received 41,015 complaints about the programme.
Police have arrested the leader of the anti-monarchist group Republic and several others as they made their way to the protest site ahead of King Charles's coronation 👇

Last night’s shift was my first time outputting a live event from the gallery 📺
A bit overwhelming at first - as my Apple Watch reminded me😅
But I brought our viewers Biden’s presser live — and managed not to crash off air!
A small thing for some, but a big step for me!
the worst part is that the EU didn't even say they couldn't stay within the scheme, we ACTIVELY decided to deny thousands of students a life changing experience
Having watched Friends all the way through at least once a year since I was about 12, Chandler’s character and Perry‘s presence in the show is 100% what makes me come back every time.
His memoir was honest, raw, and so so moving - rest in peace 💔
Also, I can’t help but notice the irony that it’s the same people and papers accusing Meghan of wanting to hog the limelight that are tweeting non stop or running 25 page specials about her
Can’t believe I’ve been at
@SkyNews
for six months already!
From being at the helm in the gallery for breaking live events — to acting as a Spanish translator for correspondents, it’s been busy 🏃🏻♀️
I’ve learned so much and can’t wait to see what the next 6 months holds! 📺🎥
Anyone else just not able to express their opinions to their parents without being dismissed as a child even though they’re literally treated as an adult in every other respect
One of my New Years resolutions was making more use of my film camera - and it’s so worth the wait because despite lockdown I’ve managed to capture some lovely moments 🥺🎞
Feel like I’ve been so quiet on here! Have taken a small break from radio presenting, writing etc whilst on the second stint of my year abroad working in Seville! 🇪🇸
Enjoying the lovely region of Andalucía and trying to improve my Spanish as much as I can before my final year 🌞
As much as I love in person talks, I really hope zoom events are here to stay
It’s so great to be able to hear from so many incredible people and gain so much wisdom and insight without having to travel! It really makes talks more accessible 🙌🏼
This
#Marr
interview where Boris is insisting that schools are safe is going to make the inevitable U-Turn even more painfully embarrassing for the government
Also as i slowly dip my toe back into the journo world i wanna make some new journo pals!!
reply to this if u are a fellow student journo so we can be friends forever plz xxx
trump saying that the goal is to ensure the integrity of the vote.... whilst calling for them to stop counting ballots and prematurely declaring victory
and this man is the leader of the free world
But Cummings didn’t get any childcare in the end !!! So his actions don’t even have a valid reason !!! And Johnson is just standing up for him !!! What is going on !!!
Despite the fact this week has felt like an eternity, spending it in a news room and watching the election coverage has made me realise that I’ve picked a career path I absolutely love
Cannot wait to be tweeting and talking about politics as a job x
Seeing everyone finish their degrees and celebrating is bringing me so much joy - a HUGE congrats to everyone who’s made it, you’re all inspiring as hell ❤️❤️❤️
Flying home from Australia today ✈️ It truly has been the trip of a lifetime, and to make things even better I found out this week that I’m officially a gold standard NCTJ qualified journalist! Can’t wait to get back and get started with my career 🙌🏼
So surreal seeing broadcast interrupted across the board to announce the news - flicked through the radio stations and I could hear the national anthem, obituaries and classical music as tribute, regardless of what sort of station it is
A truly sad day
Note to self: just because you swipe to delete a notification on your lockscreen doesn't mean the deadline / email / apocalyptic news story has ceased to exist
just gonna put this here and ask why NO ONE seemed to be questioning a literal CHAIN of pathogen spreading right near the peak of the epidemic but now suddenly the daggers are out for protestors
Is it just me that would actually prefer continuing to wear masks in crowded spaces like public transport? I’ve not got the flu or a cold this year and I can’t believe we used to share those spaces without them? 👀
We’re ending free movement to open Britain up to the world.
It will ensure people can come to our country based on what they have to offer, not where they come from.
Lots of criticism for channel 4 choosing not to do wall to wall coverage of the Duke’s death, but surely it’s also important to offer an alternative - I doubt anyone will be sitting watching the same reports all day on repeat
Today on Channel 4 we broadcast a 30 minute news special shortly after the Duke of Edinburgh's death was announced; an in-depth obituary at 4pm and there'll be an extended
@Channel4News
at 7. C4 also has a duty to offer an alternative to other channels hence a return to schedule.
Helloooooo,
Throwing this out to the void to student journos interested in national/ especially international politics
If you fancy potentially getting involved in a new project I’m thinking about, drop a reply!
Starting an internship at a huge German newspaper tomorrow - absolutely terrified my German won’t be good enough to keep up but excited for a new experience 😫😊
i love that i have this idea in my head that I'll meet the love of my life as our eyes meet across the newsroom at my first journalism job as if my workaholic ass will be looking at anything but my computer screen
I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!
so you're telling me all the young people who've given up one of their prime years to protect older groups of society will have to stay stuck whilst watching said older groups able to enjoy life again because we don't have a vaccination :(
As someone living in Germany with literally barely any restrictions I can say that Germany is enjoying a lot more freedom than the U.K. is right now because they have a competent government
Imagine turning up late to the press conference and then openly saying you don’t regret what you did and showing no concern at the outrage of the public, and then blaming it on media coverage? Awful
Just received an email from the languages faculty at Oxford advising us to postpone travel to Europe for the second half of our year abroad to later in Jan over fears of Brexit disruption
oh and the fact the whole of Europe will most likely be in a lockdown anyway
thriving :)
Why does everything have to be a competition
you’re allowed to be upset and frustrated that plans such as year abroads / weddings / Christmasses / birthdays fall apart whilst also feeling for those affected in other ways
Why can’t people see all pain is valid and stop this
@_evebennett
babes you have already been abroad in your 'year abroad' kindly please just stop complaining, people are dying and spending christmas alone. You are actually embarrassing yourself with complaining about your year abroad and travel being cancelled in a fucking pandemic
Watching the report on
#BBCBreakfast
about the incredible work student nurses have been doing during the pandemic
Studying for exams whilst being thrown into training during a national emergency must be so hard - they are truly commendable and deserve a million thanks! 😊
