NOAA owns, operates, or coordinates 18 weather satellites 92 twice-daily weather balloon launch sites 159 weather radar systems 9,000 weather monitoring stations Global & regional weather forecast models NOAA's data and modeling underpins everything weather-related in the USA.

These people do not realize how many variables go into weather forecasting? Math, physics, climatology, modeling, data management and collection, proficient scientists that understand these things, support staff, administrators to keep it afloat, science communicators, etc.!!!!
BREAKING: 12,000 employees work at NOAA. Their annual budget is $6.6 BILLION. Why are 12k people needed to tell the weather?

See you soon, #AMS2025. Next week I'll share teasers for my 3 presentations, but first... big news dropping Monday. Hint: I'll be looking to have some conversations with students while I'm at the conference. 👀
Excited for #AMS2025 in less than 1 month! It will be a busy, front-loaded week with 3 talks, repping @UNDATSC, and the @AMSEarlyCareer conference. I'll be in New Orleans most of the week, and eager to get new connections going in the meantime!

Bit of a late post, but it has been an eventful December. After 5.5 years, I can officially say I’m an industrial engineer and meteorologist. Grateful to all my friends, family, colleagues, and mentors.
