don’t care for wwe nor do i care about any of the business aspects, just think it’s funny that this was the exact experience i had with football. i still love watching football but losing people i can talk to about it bc of prices and accessibility really took away the fun.

people will check in on the big stuff, read about the big moments but there won’t be any connection to the product. and i don’t even think those people will watch aew or something else. for them wrestling is wwe and they will just walk away and find something else.

the social aspect of being like “have u seen …” will completely get lost. the conversations about wwe will get less and less because it will be harder to find others who also pay for everything and actually allow fun talks.

and with the product splitting about various streaming services you can’t even prevent the fact that people will lose interest in the product. and i don’t even think it’s because the individual isn’t willing to spend the money. people will pay for it but maybe their friend won’t.

leading to an overall watered down show when watching from home. i think the best comparisons here is the premier league where there are obviously clubs, who’s fans go to games to be entertained and not to support the team or generally speaking want to create an atmosphere.

i think wwe will take a similar development as men’s football in europe. it already started with the ticket prices which lead to an audience that isn’t excited about the matches, theyre excited that they are “better” than the average person who has to watch from home.
