Israel is committing genocide in Gaza with complete impunity: it has not been challenged. That impunity doesn't stay in Gaza: it's spreading, as Israel defiantly spits on international law. Today Qatar was added to the target list. Anyone could be next. What can a country like
Canada condemns Israel’s strikes in Qatar — an intolerable expansion of violence and an affront to Qatar’s sovereignty. Regardless of their objectives, such attacks pose a grave risk of escalating conflict throughout the region, and directly imperil efforts to advance peace &

Negotiations surrounding wages will now move to mediation and, possibly, arbitration — but there will be no immediate strike or lockout.

🔔Reality check ➡️ 2 billion people work without basic protections. No sick leave, no safety net, no security ⚠️That's 6 out of 10 workers globally. But the informal economy isn't just numbers! It's families struggling to survive. You can change this! #ThisWayToSocialJustice👇

✊ Air Canada & Air Canada Rouge flight attendants voted 99.1% NO to the company’s wage offer - a record 99.4% turnout. Poverty wages at Canada’s national carrier? Unacceptable! After proposed wage increase, they’d still earn less than federal minimum wage. #UnpaidWorkWontFly

A few thoughts on the overwhelming tentative agreement rejection at #AirCanada. 🧵#canlab 1. The union oversold the tentative agreement by declaring the end of unpaid work. That framing seems to have rubbed some members the wrong way.

The IDF campaign to destroy all structures & supports for life in Gaza has come full-force to Gaza City, the last area where there are still many intact buildings. Ministers Ben Gvir and Katz both bragging today about the destruction of the Mushtaha Tower, one of Gaza’s tallest.

Major loopholes allow Canadian weapons to flow freely to Israel as it commits genocide in Gaza. Today on Parliament Hill, CJPME’s @mbueckert spoke in support of @JennyKwanBC’s Private Members Bill which aims to close the US loophole and align Canadian export policy with the Arms

For years, policymakers in Peel Region denied that poverty and homelessness were issues in the ‘burbs. I can think of no one who did more to put these issues on the political agenda and encourage those with lived experience of poverty to speak truth to power. She will be missed.

Happy Labour Day! Reminder there’s a direct link btwn low levels of collective bargaining coverage in a country & high levels of inequality And as inequality grows so does risk of political instability & authoritarianism. Collective bargaining is a key pillar of democracy.

Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.
