Am growing increasingly concerned that the government is about to take a backward step on mental health which will do further damage to its standing and more importantly damage care for people in need. The mental health sector was desperate for a change of government because.

Important insights @PeterWanless about the reality for our children. Austerity and online harms hurt our kids, yet it’s virtually impossible to get real action, that’s why civil society must keep going and not hide away from the hard truths!.

Don’t even get me started on the ridiculous question I keep seeing ‘why didn’t they speak sooner’! Bore off with this nonsense, if you don’t know by now why then I suggest you might be the problem! Fix up people, fix up! 😡.

The implication that ‘middle class women’ are having a go at a working class bloke is wild. This statement is oozing with misogyny & classism that only serves to reveal an audacity and entitlement that is deeply worrying! Wow 😠.

The scrutiny at this stage has been limited, so it’s important the next round goes even further & deeper. We @mindcharity have questions as do many advocacy groups. We urge government to listen carefully & remember that this conversation is not happening on equal ground.

It’s important to remember that the #AssistedDyingBill has a long way to go before it could become legislation. Media outlets must be careful & clear. There are many steps & questions to be answered. The public must have time to have their say & there is scope still to do that.

🧵 Yesterday, the work and pensions secretary Liz Kendall announced reforms to reduce economic inactivity and boost employment. The govt plans to transform Job Centres into a genuine employment service, that properly supports people to get back into work. Here's our take ⬇ 1/8.

Fat phobia is real. Micro aggressions on the daily, little reminders that you are not quite the ideal if you are not a size 10! It’s so tiresome, truly. 🥱.

I smiled sweetly & left, not having huge faith if I asked these questions it wouldn’t be received as a middle aged moan. I did make myself laugh as I imagined Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, the infamous ‘big mistake’ line. TBH, now I can buy the clothes, I don’t want them! 🙄.

Now, the person was very likely trying to be nice, let me give them the benefit of the doubt. But, why did my size immediately attract attention? And why are the bigger sizes hidden out the back? 🤨.

Tuesday musings. Yesterday I went into a clothes shop, will remain nameless. But, when I was a very big woman I would never have been able to shop there, now I can. I went in, the shop assistant said ‘hi, just to let you know we have the bigger sizes in the back’. 😬.
