Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

I asked God to remind me of who I was. I had to interrupt the pattern of ruminating on negative thoughts, and ask God to quieten the noise in my mind. The Lord reminded of accomplishments I’d achieved, music I’d written, growth in my life and gave me assurance of my future.

I had a moment last week where everything seemed to come to a head. I had finished a meeting online and just felt so overwhelmed afterwards. I sat down and prayed to God, asking Him to make everything clear to me regarding my future, my purpose, my career…

There’s a command there and there’s an action; to praise God and to share the gospel! When was the last time you can remember praising the Lord with everything you had? Praise can change your story, and remind of the purpose God has for you here on earth.

In order to know where we’re going, we have to remind ourselves of why we were created. We’ve gotta go back to basics! Psalms 9:1 says, “I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.”

Sometimes it’s easy to feel like we lack purpose. And in those times, it can be really hard to navigate our lives. What do we do next? How do we find order? Have we lost ourselves?

I live in a city that is heavily populated, career driven, money motivated and riddled with competition. But in this city, the longing for genuine connection is rife and it’s easy to get disappointed when you can’t have it or discouraged when you struggle to maintain it.
