Attendees then got to taste the apple juice from the orchard to bring the tour to a successful end. Many thanks to all those that came down to Rosemount and to the researchers who gave of their time.

The we were onto the orchards, where @davidjohnbrogan spoke about the Lamb-Clarke apple collection and the importance of conserving heritage varieties for the future

Also from @doohancropslab , @conor_copeland3 talked about the INNOVAR project, using RNASeq to identify disease resistance markers in wheat

@KahlaAmal from the @OatsHealthy project discussed their work of screening for resistance to mycotoxins in heritage oats.

Next @sonicanegrao gave us an insight into the PSI photo imaging suite used to study and further our understanding of the growth of plants.

@noeleenbotanics showed us some great examples of exotics and invasives and some of their impact here in Ireland

For #plantsday, @noeleenbotanics arranged a lunchtime tour of Rosemount to show some fascinating plants and plant science that is being done here at Rosemount by researchers from @ucdagfood & @UCDSBES
