To be clear: we are 100% in a bubble. But psycho tech CEOs never admit they are in a bubble unless it’s a play. So if Sam is saying it you can bet he’s trying to damage competitors in some way, all while trying to make himself look like “a reasonable down to earth dude”.

The only reason Sam Altman is now saying that AI is in a bubble is because the GPT-5 launch was so disastrous that he wants to make it harder for everyone else to fundraise & surpass OpenAI. Everything this guy does has an ulterior motive and you should be mindful of it.

Platforms like @Upwork are specially awful to use now. Every cover letter is AI slop and a lot of contractors don't even speak english, using Chat GPT to keep up the illusion that they do. The result is an environment of constant professional catfishing and paranoia.

I stopped hiring remote workers because I never know for sure if I'm hiring a real person or just someone using Chat GPT. Is anyone else also seeing this total collapse of remote work trust?.

This proposal is imperfect. But hopefully it starts a conversation. VC backed companies will never solve this because they will never fully serve creators. But the right group of technical creators could do this. We have the skill, the audience & so much to gain. Let's talk.

Being an online creator isn't just a side thing anymore. It's a career. And we can't be putting our entire livelihoods on the selfish whims of VC-backed corporations. Creators need a platform they can rely on for decades. And the only solution is for them to own it.

I am not advocating for creators to abandon big tech platforms, but to use them the same way they use you. To treat them as discovery platforms - so you can then, slowly but surely, move 0.1-1% of your core fans to a place that you own. These numbers feel small, but they add up.

I'm currently building my own personal platform, but instead of just solving my own problem, I want to create something that my friends & peers can also use. And after @OpenSauceLive, it became clear that other creators are also building their own. So let's team up and fix this.

I jerryrigged a script that crawls through all of the different versions of a video you posted & combines all comment sections into one for your personal platform. This is a small thing, but it feels big - being able to see all of your community in one page and respond to them.

Phase 3 is community integration. This is the most open ended one, but there's tons of small things we can do that create impact. Short form creators, for example, often post the same video on multiple platforms, but their community is split on multiple comment sections.

I understand video streaming is a nightmare, so if you have any suggestions on how we can streamline video hosting for non-technical folk, I'm all ears. And @luke_lafr, if I can get you on the horn to talk, I'd love to figure out solutions. Float Plane is an important product.

Video streaming is obviously expensive, but if creators own the platform, they can make their own calls on how to make the economics of it work. Want to run ads & keep all the revenue? That's your call. Want to lock the videos under your subscription pay wall? That's your call.
