Check how @Jahnavijoshi2's lab is looking at evolution of biodiversity. And for that they are using novel methods like studying venom diversity of organisms like centipedes. https://t.co/UI1gZV1vu2 @CSIR_IND

@_GopiKrishnan is an absolute star. His recent article in SciTales: https://t.co/XR9ZSjvCzg has been adapted by @geetanathvallur for @the_hindu. And this is one of top days, I can proudly recommend research labs to start more #popsci websites + other initiatives.

Biological invasion is a multi-step process that eventually becomes a major threat to biodiversity. First, a species is intentionally or accidentally

Have you ever imagined your act of freeing your exotic pets into the environment might be actually damaging the ecosystem? @_GopiKrishnan writes for SciTales on the rise of invasive fishes, and the role of aquarium hobbyists in it. https://t.co/ChBQGfTB5r @CSIR_IND

This 👇is the reason why we should call the issue #biological #invasions (i.e. the process) rather than #invasive #species (i.e. the outcome). We also say ‘climate change‘ rather than ‘temperature’. Let’s rethink our terminology and use proper terms.

Important to keep in mind: The actual problem of biological invasions is not the #invasive #species; the problem is us, humans. We created this problem and we can tackle it. @IPBES #IAS assessment #IPBES10 As said in German newspaper:

Don't publish for the sake of publishing. Only publish to move science forward. Quality over quantity. Even if everyone pushes you into the opposite direction.

Bird nests made from anti-bird spikes! 🤯 Even for me as a nest researcher, these are the craziest bird nests I've ever seen. Today my paper came out on this rebellious behaviour. And it's like telling a joke... A thread. 🧵

Often, I have been asked why people do not collect and make money from the plastic in the river, I tell them it is a hard & expensive task to do . Yesterday, I challenged myself- got into the water for one hour to see how much of the recyclable plastic waste I’d be able to gather

As a professor, pursue the careers of your PhD students and postdocs instead of pursuing your own. I know it may sound strange and even provocative. But in fact it is how it’s supposed to be. Unfortunately, a personal gain is the biggest motivation for many professors. More
