Excited to have my paper among the 8 articles in the inaugural issue of @Leaf_Journal! Thanks to amazing editors @ElenCaldecott and @LucyCuthew! The paper uses Joan Aiken's craft principles to re-examine some common techniques for evoking emotion in contemporary YA. @LizzaAiken
YA authors frequently employ an expressive first-person voice for “immediacy”. However, in this article, @NoahWrites1 argues that overtly emotional first-person voices can sometimes actually prevent, rather than enable, emotional intensity.
