Honored & excited to be joining the Toronto Tempo as Manager of Scouting and Basketball Strategy! I’m appreciative to Eli Horowitz and Monica Wright Rogers for this opportunity and eager to work alongside and learn from them as I start a new chapter in my life on & off the court.

Conner played tenacious on-ball defense with quick hands to pick pockets. She was constantly on the hunt to force turnovers. She moved her body into position to contest everything. She made a help-side block and hung to reject the driver at the rim. ...

5-foot-7 shooting guard Layla Conner is an athletic, two-way competitor and three-level shot creator with next-level agility. The 7th grader is nearly unstoppable among her state peers and showcased a well-rounded game against freshmen at the 3x3 Hoop League.

7/ Focus on Context To get more skilled, a player should trade hours and hours of memorized, mindless reps for purposeful practice rooted in context. The goal: Build skill that survives the chaos of live, competitive play, and truly develops a player, and attracts exposure.

6/ If players want to move up, then they shouldn't settle for checking the “work hard and be coachable” boxes. Being “in the gym” isn’t enough. Are they building game-transferable skill? Or are they just stacking reps that don’t translate?

“Muscle memory” is one of the most persistent myths in skill development. And understanding the idea shapes how we teach. Muscles don’t remember. The brain adapts. This blog breaks down why that matters—and what we should be doing instead. 👉 https://t.co/69hkTkaWAt

Jewell Loyd says she's most proud of her defense & screening (really got A'ja open a ton) from this season. Also says that being a starter "really isn't that important" moving forward. It's more important for her to play freely & have fun + will do whatever the team needs.

5/ Constraints-Led Approach CLA-based training (Renshaw et al., 2024) is proven to promote Exploration over imitation. Instead of prescribing a perfect technique, coaches manipulate rules or space to guide the player toward their own functional movement solution.

4/ Perception-Action Coupling Davids et al. (2025) explain that the Ecological Dynamics framework says perception and action are intrinsically coupled. Isolated drills uncouple them. Train the player to read the environment and act—that's how skill emerges.

#TCU WBB was named the pre-season Big 12 championship favorites according to coaches poll, per release. This is the first time in program history to earn the honor. Could be another special year in Fort Worth Mark Campbell. Program builder.

“When talent meets talent, talent is no longer enough.” - Inky Johnson Most equate this quote to hard work, and this is absolutely true, but from a coaching standpoint, this means WIN THE POSSESSIONS BATTLE. - Win the possessions battle when your talent is < opponents
