For years, we have consistently decried the legal fees cartelism while LSK leadership remained mum on the issue. If LSK leadership (present and prospective) is genuine about protection of rule of law, it must stop intellectualizing theft of public funds through 'legal fees'.

Finance Minister's presentation to legislators today is...odd. In early December, he said @KeTreasury didn't get an independent transaction advisor on the @SafaricomPLC sell-down to @Vodacom, saying it was an "un-necessary expense" at that stage.

The arguments from @LawSocietyofKe are not convincing, at all… 1. They seem to be saying that the High Court order will affect the livelihoods of lawyers? But it is not the duty of the public to provide lawyers with livelihoods? Every profession has to fend for itself. 2.

Exactly why I support those orders. They also send staff for proper training. Their arbitration department has proper stars, some trained in Switzerland. Even during the oil & gas mania, they trained people properly. So what is this need to outsource?
I have worked at AG Chambers. They have branches in more than 2/3s of the counties. Properly staffed too. If anything, the AG doesn't usually outsource legal briefs in the far flung counties where they lack an office. They outsource juicy briefs in Nairobi. Tafuta excuse ingine.

@FaithOdhiambo8 @Mr_Guantai @LawSocietyofKe It beats logic why an entity with a fully staffed legal unit could engage a private practitioner to represent it in legal matters. There are counties which owe billions of shillings to these practitioners, at the expense of taxpayers. Sad.

@FaithOdhiambo8 @LawSocietyofKe Why does the office of the Auditor General do primary audit of all government agencies and not private firms? Lawyers at the State Law Office and County Attorneys should do the work for which taxpayers are paying them.
