Yuzu did have a patreon, making $30K a month. However, as determined by the ruling of Sony v. Bleem, selling an emulator commercially is completely legal. Also, Yuzu is open source, anyone could compile early builds.

This shouldn't be an issue, as emulators emulate hardware, not software. Any game will run. However, TotK was BLOCKED before release. you needed an unofficial plugin called "TotK yuzufix" to play it. Nintendo even admits this.

In the 'new and improved' Multiversus, you can't even test characters before buying anymore, let alone play as them locally. Offline events are screwed.

the issue with this is that you DON'T unlock characters by playing the game, in fact. you don't get fighter tokens through normal play whatsoever, only through rewards for rift mode or the battle pass
I plan to play the game consistently for a month or so, I'll see how bad it is

Ryujinx ALSO has a patreon, albeit a smaller one. This is very similar to Yuzu's, providing early updates and priority support. Having a patreon was not a factor in why they targeted one over the other.

Working on my full thoughts, but I think if you take it for what it is (an extremely casual F2P platform fighter) it's a lot of fun with friends, especially those who don't play a lot of platfighters
that said, the state the game is in rn is abysmal and unacceptable.

NOBODY thinks rivals 2 should just be rivals 1 in 3d. But a good sequel builds upon the mechanics of the original and I just don't agree that rivals 2 does that. It's new mechanics aren't cohesive with the themes of R1.
I hate how tone deaf these devs are like we dont want rivals 1 again we want a good game. instead of listening to feedback the first thing yall do is go in the exact opposite direction of what people wanted. but ya we just want rivals in 3d

Shines can be cool, but games also just add them to random characters.

It doesn't matter if your character has a TOD autocombo if a new player still doesn't understand why they got hit for trying to attack after their blockstun ended.

the icing on top is that dungeons didn't even USE a die for the stamina mechanic, stamina dice were an entirely separate mechanic that DID roll
Good news! in the latest patch, they've remedied this issue by removing the ability to see the dice on her head when she uses the attack!
