Re: Masking. I have only caught (symptomatic) COVID once, and it was from public transport. Only having it once, I attribute equally to masking & luck. My experience with COVID was horrible, as while I didn't suffer long-term symptoms it dangerously worsened my diabetes for days.

i've read volume 1 fully (also sections of 2 & 3) and it was one of the hardest reads of my life tbh. so i don't entirely blame people, though i still get annoyed when folks who have only skimmed the manifesto try to make sweeping claims about marxism & even socialism as a whole.

Objectively speaking, Zohran Mamdani is the most skilled politician America has had since Obama. Unlike Trump & Biden, he doesn't gaffe. Unlike Bush & Hillary, he stands for popular policy & doesn't talk down to people. He's going to become NYC mayor, get couped by Trump, or both.

@AdamLehrerSP I thought it was pretty woke when I came out of the theater and noticed a lot of subtle reverse racism. Now that I’ve had a chance to think about it and watch a few clips over again…it’s a very good movie. Good luck with the clout chasing tho.

while i don't think "canceling" is inherently a good or bad tactic, i agree that a culture of division & shame is counterproductive. personally, i try not to act for the sake of abstract 'accountability', instead working towards safety & uplifted voices for the most vulnerable.
I used to defend “cancel culture” up until recently - I once thought that the term was too often weaponized against marginalized people justifiably expressing offense to harmful actions by public figures. I still think that’s somewhat true, but less and less so as of late.

A fundamental weakness of socialism is that socialists don’t understand what value is. They think value is just “there” and all they have to do is seize it from the rich and give it to the poor. Value is created by talented people with ideas who need to be incentivised to create.
