.@premierinn Really gutted to discover my flex booking has gone up by 105 for a Tuesday night stay in Durham. This is more than your hub weekend prices in London. Expected a slight charge, but you should really make it clear that you’re operating surge pricing. Expected better

I have been looking forward to my cappuccino all day. But refuse to add to the global climate catastrophe for coffee. Taking my daughter to ice hockey is okay. Driving another 40 yards is not. Very sad.

Feel like I’m watching the last scenes of a horror movie, where everything is all suddenly settled and hopeful.

Hear, hear, @HillaryClinton. You were truly robbed four years ago. Now it's time for a new future. Thank you for blazing the trail.
The voters have spoken, and they have chosen @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris to be our next president and vice president. It's a history-making ticket, a repudiation of Trump, and a new page for America. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Onward, together.

'I've never seen or heard of attacks': scientists baffled by orcas harassing boats
theguardian.com
Reports of orcas striking sailing boats in the Straits of Gibraltar have left sailors and scientists confused. Just what is causing such unusually aggressive behaviour?

My beach buddy yesterday, enjoying the heat wave. In her new watershoes. We live in a glorious place.

Couldn’t think why I hadn’t been to West Witterings beach in so long. Two mins later I remembered as all orifices filled with sand. Sand will haunt my house for weeks. And car. And when will I ever get the grit from my water bottle? But hot lifeguards made up for it.

One of the joys of lockdown is making coffee my husband when he’s on work calls - in mugs like this one. Makes me laugh so much. And yet, he makes me my coffee in my favourite mug. What a mug! @alvercanuck

My teenage daughters have had a falling-out this morning over communism. Writers take note. Shows which have girls arguing about trivial matters are so old hat. Women discuss how life is lived.

‘I know let’s boycott Mum’ - daughter age 15. ‘But she gives good hugs’ - daughter age 18. Weirdly satisfied by that. But could have been a bit more epic with ‘but she saves the universe in her spare time’. Maybe I don’t talk about that enough?

"The lockdown measures were presented as a great national collective endeavour and they were accepted by the public on those terms too. Now it seems they were optional so long as, that is, you have the correct connections." https://t.co/vlLsbCnggD via @spectator

To drop the snark for a moment, what’s extraordinary is that the UK govt would willingly undermine the vital public health messaging in the midsts of a pandemic which has killed 55,000 people and rising - just to save one wretched man’s job.
