This was inspired by a comment on the @ProjectionsPod, so if you are @psycstar or @sarahkcleaver, feel free to steal it.

I’ve been following this podcast from the start, and the latest about spoken word is the best yet. Re/Search’s Incredibly Strange Music books are referenced several times and with this episode, @mondoheather, H P & @FatherMalone73 pick up where they left off. Essential listening.

This is a really jarring piece of work. It’s an inept, schlocky movie that engages with some seriously disturbing material, and features an ending that has to be seen to be believed. If it doesn’t get a whole chapter in @hexmassacre’s upcoming child kill book, I’ll be shocked.

I’ve always loved the third Evil Dead film. The director’s cut was restored long ago, but I still prefer the supermarket ending. There’s something genuinely moving about seeing @GroovyBruce’s Ash just slip back into anonymity after all the iconic adventures only he remembers.

For a limited time you can hear @ProjectionsPod’s @psycstar discuss her 20 favourite books. I always hope that when people do this their choices are just as revealing as the stack of tapes at the side of the TV at the start of Gaspar Noe’s Climax. Hers is up to that challenge.
A very close vote, but the 'Story Time' episode about my favourite books just edged it! I'm unlocking this Patreon recording for a limited time, enjoy➡️ https://t.co/45UHLGnqYE

Do you remember Shock Around The Clock, the eighties horror festival curated by @alanfrightfest & Stefan Jaworzyn at the Scala cinema and forerunner to Jones & @paulmcevoy’s now world famous @FrightFest? In a fit of nostalgia, we restaged it.
One Shocking Day In August: as #FrightFest 2023 gets underway, we look back and recreate the first annual Shock Around the Clock film festival from 1989, the place where it all started.

It’s unfortunate that when the death of Michael Parkinson was announced last week, the first thing I thought of was his uncomfortable interview with Meg Ryan about her role in this dark, sexual drama. Revisiting it two decades later, it’s still one of the decade’s best film.

This old BBC show is one for fans of the @VideoArchives podcast as it features footage of both of the stores and interviews with some members of staff. No @AVARY, but you can’t have everything.

Ever watched a film on home video (whichever format you like) and thought that something, somehow, wasn't quite right about it? It might be down to music rights, a petty bit of contractual oversight that has caused damage - sometimes minor, sometimes crippling - to old movies.

A PODCAST: To The Devil A Daughter. The debut episode of @kat_diabolique’s new podcast is both intelligent and fun. The discussion ranges from Camille Paglia’s & Russ Meyer movies to Angela Carter, Clarissa Pinkola Estes & tits. Listen & start celebrating the divine feminine now.

A PODCAST: Twitch Of The Death Nerve: If you’re a fan of William Friedkin’s controversial serial killer film, @sammdeighan & friends’ discussion is essential listening with great stuff on the story’s origins & some genuinely insightful readings of the film’s ambiguous conclusion.

A PODCAST: @cultmoviespod: Guests @mondoheather & @RachelMcPadden join host @akdonelly to talk about Paul Morrissey’s cult classic but it’s the double bill suggestions that are the real highlight...they’re wild. If you have a taste for the offbeat, you need to give this a listen.

A PODCAST: Hell’s Belles (Ep 9). The Belles are back! @kat_diabolique & @mondoheather’s conversation about punk is very autobiographical with a healthy does of anger, but it’s also a very warm discussion, and you’re guaranteed to have a list of music to check out by the end.

This video with @bobfreelander discussing his love for 2 classic Hollywood comedies recently out on blu ray is well worth a look. Both films are great, and his personal take on the appeal of W.C.Fields’s comedy is as laugh out loud funny as the film itself. https://t.co/ouebifzJBi

A DISCOVERY: Coldblooded (1994). Jason Priestley is fantastic in this black comedy about a mob bookie reluctantly promoted to hitman only to discover he has real aptitude for the job. Full credit to @bobfreelander for highlighting this one...it’s a genuinely unpredictable treat.

NEW WATCH: Flesh Feast (1969). While this might not be anyones idea of a classic, it does demonstrate that if you live long enough and watch enough films, you will eventually get to see Hollywood Icon Veronica Lake torture Hitler with genetically engineered flesh eating maggots.
