I was never actually that big of a fan of Rick Dalton, but seeing how upset Quentin is today and how inconsolable he is has me wanting to see The Fireman 2 again. My favorite Dalton film.
We are saddened by the news of the passing of actor Rick Dalton, best known for his roles in the hit TV series Bounty Law and The Fireman trilogy.
Rick passed away peacefully in his home in Hawaii and is survived by his wife Francesca.

The Barbie showing in Westwood last night had such an amazing audience, literally cheering the movie. Many of them were larping. I haven't seen that in a while, and it was awesome.
So happy for cinemas having the busiest weekend in years. I saw ‘Oppenheimer’ in venue shaking 70mm IMAX, I couldn’t even get tix for ‘Barbie’ at my fav London screen. And you still have ‘Mission Impossible’ (and more) to dazzle your eyeballs out there. The big screen isn’t dead.
I am so thrilled to have my hero

Deadwood is shot on film, and though no one wants to admit it, digital video and film are as different mediums as oil and watercolor paints. The physiological processes of production, preparation, and capture are diametrically different. This affects every department of…

My former landlord was a business affairs executive at Disney, and while I signed my overpriced lease the motherfucker confessed "You know, I really don't like movies that much."

By far the best film I have seen this year, which should absolutely be an awards contender, is Tarsem Singh Dhandwar’s tragic and gut wrenching fable, Dear Jassi. The film is currently running the festival circuit, playing Toronto & Santa Barbara and I urge everyone to see it.…

The funny thing about everything going on in Hollywood is that the only position that could realistically be replaced by an AI is the CEO. They literally don't do anything an algorithm couldn't probably do better.

If they had just given me a nickel instead of that stupid water bottle on each meeting I took like the aforementioned then I'd be a wealthy man today. What a waste of time. Parasites.
The Gala Show has a new episode! This week Gala talks with playwright Michelle Kholos Brooks about the complexities involved in dramatically adapting real world subjects.

I was friends with Jules Bass when we both lived in the south of France, he in Villefranche and I in Cap d’Antibes. He once had me and my wife over for dinner and made us an amazing Frozen Pear for dessert, and subsequently I sang “I’m Mr. Freezemiser” to him. RIP, Jules.
The very best Silent Hill collector's tome, for which I had written the foreword, has been out of stock for the last two years, but is now back in a deluxe edition! And it will soon be translated into English, Russian and Chinese! This is a truly beautiful edition.

The day after that trailer hit screens me and every other kid at my middle school playground were excitedly talking about the flying silver spheres and what the hell was this wild madness of a movie. There was nothing else like it.
Winnipeg is the geographical center of the North American continent. Built against all logic on a floodplain. The home of Canola Oil. Doubles well for Chicago. Beware the biting flies. It gets as cold as -38.8 Celsius. It holds many secrets.
Watching Lucky Day (2019) for the third time this year. It's friggin bonkers, bloody as hell and fast paced! Why this wasn't the talk of the town is beyond me. And for god's sake, get me Nina Dobrev's number!

I was Stuart Gordon’s projectionist at Empire Films during his run at the studio, screening dailies on From Beyond & Robojox, and he was an absolute inspiration. I just heard of his passing which has brought back a flood of fond memories.

Part Two of DAY OF THE DALTON on the VIDEO ARCHIVES PODCAST with Quentin Tarantino, Roger Avary, and Gala Avary is every bit as brilliant as Part One. I think my favorite Rick Dalton movie has to be NEBRASKA JIM after giving this a listen. Kudos, Team Archives!

The fact that the fight started over an actual dick measuring contest was left out of the original Variety article. I wanna know who “won.” All we’re left with is that Burt held a grudge.
@AVARY
No one mentioned Dalton’s drunken brawl with Burt Reynolds on the set of Cannonball Run II. I still think he should have got the Voight role in Deliverance personally.
“Avary delivers his select brand of snappy dialogue, cartoonish characters and cutthroat comic brutality with a sure hand. In some ways, you could say the writer-director is at the top of his game, but who else is playing it now but him?” 😂 Too true!

Maybe it's because the medium changed from photochemical to digitalelectrical, completely altering the production & distribution processes, which has certainly been a boon to producers & distributors, but the jury is out on how much damage it's done to the auteur theory.
I’m seeing this unusual title for the first time, which was originally simply “A Film By...” before the WGA mandated it be changed. This was to protect the interests of the writer...which is also me. 🤔 A curious anomaly, but also a good way to identify this version of the film.
