This should give you an idea that the Norvinsk Region and Tarkov outskirts were detailed from the very beginning. All that was left was to depict the key landmarks and capture the atmosphere. Cheers!

Back then, I was working with a rough, sketchy map of the region with lore descriptions of its locations and the characters traveling along the way. Here's a small section of the map, with the names blurred out to prevent further speculation.

Okay, a nostalgic post! This is one of my favorite pictures, which I drew back when R2028 was in pre-production and environment design was in research. It depicts a space observatory overlooking the city of Norvinsk, which is located on the coast.

Rare footage of bruh speaking Chinese. 🤌 Give him a warm welcome so he can overcome the high entry barrier and become my Chinese translator while I translate Japanese memes for his entertainment. (笑)

Bro shared some of Terminal development process, so I'd like to add a little bit of my own to support his post. As far as I remember, we also tried to match the surrounding area with a satellite image that I had once worked on.

Do you enjoy the dev process? A few images from Terminal. I did the first blockout and gameplay tests — running around cubes, imagining the final flow. It turned out close to what I envisioned. Huge respect to @domontovich and everyone involved behind the scenes.

Besides the storyboard, I also made various graphics that flash here and there. Here I can only speak for my work and @elvis_vista involvement, but I sincerely thank everyone else who also took part in creating this awesome material! (equip sheet drafts I did in very beginning)

I had to stay up all night, but by morning everything was ready and the material could be passed on for further work. What amazes me in the end is that my vision was almost exactly realized in the final video, as you can see from the pictures provided.

@elvis_vista sat down with the level editor, and I directed him on which scene screenshots and which camera angles were needed for the video. When all screenshots were done, I got to work on the paint-over.

We waited for the draft script from the narrative designer, which defined which scenes should be present and what information should be voiced to the player, and we started.

so it could be sent into production and costs calculated right away. @elvis_vista was appointed feature owner, and I, just like 10 years ago, was assigned again to work on the storyboard. Back then it was the announcement CGI trailer. Now — the release one. (<-relese announce->)

At first, it seemed impossible given the tight deadlines we had left, and the meeting ended without any concrete decision. But literally that same evening, we suddenly got Nikita's approval, but on one condition — we had to make a full storyboard for the video as fast as possible

When we first thought about what intro in the EFT release ver. would be, it was initially assumed the player would see a slideshow presenting lore about the game world and the current situation. In one meeting on the topic, @elvis_vista said, "Why don't we just make a cool CGI?"

Hello. As a New Year gift for you all, today I'll talk about our intro storyline CGI video. This is something I and @elvis_vista can be proud of, because we started this huge work, which many of cool guys and the team of our beloved @TarkovBasement took part in.

If I remember it right, at that time, VALDAI was looking for ways to expand into the civilian market, and one of the features could have been the application of unique markings. One day I will take it apart and show you how exactly its optical design works.

Ok, back to roots, gear and optics. Sorting through archived photos I found this. This is a sample of a 1P87 sight with EFT engravings. I believe this exact sample was used to create the 3D model that's currently in the game.

I helped @elvis_vista out a little here and there to make it happen. And now I'm glad my Bruh realized his dream both in the real world and in the virtual world of Tarkov. A well-deserved accomplishment for the years of work he put into making Tarkov amazing. 👏🫡

@ThatKevinSmith on the left. Me on the right. Both bearded. Both in caps. Both look like we’re about to argue for hours about movies, comics, and life.
