On May 11, a student experienced a choking incident. Craig sprang into action, performing the Heimlich maneuver until the food object was dislodged.

Last night, we were proud to welcome members of the Class of 1972, who were celebrating their 50th reunion. Joining them was Coach Bud Douds (1966-78. 85-86), who was a longtime teacher and guidance counselor. Also in attendance was former Huskers QB Tim Klemchuk, a ConEd winner.

Gian Paul Gonzalez, whose inspirational “All In” message helped the New York Giants win a Super Bowl in 2012, spoke to Yorktown's freshman, JV, and varsity athletes today ahead of the upcoming fall season.

Got hoops? 4th grader Tommy Carney does! In the Elks National Hoop Shoot Tommy moved onto the next level after the CES competition. At YHS he shot 25/25 foul shots-AMAZING! On 1/27 he'll compete with even more boys from his age group in Pearl River. Let’s wish Tommy good luck!

Accompanied by a police escort, our Yorktown High School varsity cheerleaders have arrived back on campus after competing in the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida.
On Sunday, Max Wallace (Yorktown High School Class of 2022) handled play-by-play duties on ESPN’s “KidsCast” version of the “Sunday Night Baseball” game between the Red Sox and the Orioles. The game was played in Williamsport, Pa., the home of the Little League World Series.
It was great to catch up with the Class of 2018's Brett Makar. The former Husker lacrosse star has excelled in college, earning All-American honors and winning an NCAA championship.

It was a beautiful day as the entire student body came together for a pep rally at Charlie Murphy Field, marking the occasion with fun performances, creative skits, exciting games, and more.
Congratulations to YHS senior Braden Reynolds, who recently won the NIAAA Scholar-Athlete Essay Competition for Section One.
The contest’s topic was: “How HS Athletics Has Impacted My Life.” Braden wrote about how his experience on the XC team helped him become more social.

Congratulations to junior Kailey O’Connell, who earned All-Section honors at the girls bowling section tournament on Monday. Kailey is one of six bowlers who will represent Section One at states.
It was a great season for the Huskers, who won their first league title since 2013!

Her charity work involves collecting and distributing feminine hygiene products to those in need.

The game was the inaugural Legends Classic presented by the JCK Foundation in support of mental health awareness.

On Sunday, YHS Band Director Emily Kluga and junior Sharik Bose joined 300-plus musicians from across the US for a magical performance of Christmas songs. Ms. Kluga even performed alongside her 12-year-old daughter!
What an incredible night at the YHS WISE Symposium! We were blown away by the diverse range of projects showcased by our talented seniors. From law enforcement and engineering to nursing, finance, and beyond, they delved into exciting internships and explored many career paths.

Great win last night by Yorktown High School’s varsity boys soccer team, which improved to 10-0 with a win over a defending state champion Somers!
Yorktown is ranked No. 3 in the state in Class A, according to the latest rankings from the New York State Sportswriters Association
At Monday night’s BOE meeting, we were proud to recognize the outstanding academic achievements of nine Yorktown High School seniors. These impressive students all earned 100-plus weighted GPAs, a testament to their hard work and dedication.

The Yorktown Central School District will operate on a THREE HOUR delayed opening schedule tomorrow, Monday, March 4th. We will assess the weather conditions in the early hours of Monday morning. Any change in the status of opening schools will be communicated by 7:00am Monday.

Our new digital display board at the YHS turf field is up and running. It boasts over 600 sq ft of display space and was funded by a state grant.

Recently we initiated an ESTEAM logo design challenge across the district so that a student would design our very first ESTEAM logo. After receiving approximately 100 entries, a community vote determined that Ryan’s submission would be our first ESTEAM logo.

Congratulations to Matthew Yee, a BOCES Student of Distinction! Matthew, a senior at YHS, has excelled in animation and motion graphics. He also leads the Soupstone club, plays varsity volleyball, and mentors freshmen through the Big Buddy program.

The students in Ms. Livermore and Ms. Haggerty's class put on a unique holiday concert today. The high school students decorated trees and connected them to Makey Makey devices. They then created a closed circuit, allowing them to play "Jingle Bells" with the touch of a finger!

Great effort tonight by our varsity girls soccer team! The Huskers scored a 5-0 victory over Arlington B in the opening round of their tournament. They'll take on R.C. Ketcham on Saturday for the championship.
Our middle school classes just wrapped up a call with New York Giants rookie wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson. The virtual Q&A is part of the NFL and the American Heart Association's Play 60 campaign, which encourages kids to get physically active for at least 60 minutes a day.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Mero, the Yorktown High School community, as part of Operation Santa, recently gave gifts to 21 students, providing them winter clothes, toiletries, and toys for the season. Amazing!
