A senior physicist cautioned me recently: Academia is too far gone at least in the near term. My efforts are like yelling at a wall. Stay quiet and "keep your ear to the ground". (I'm sure he meant well.) But I'm afraid everyone keeping quiet is why we're here in the first place.
Fellow professors--especially fellow tenured professors--don't sit on the sidelines in the struggle to defend academic freedom. Everyone needs to be suited up and on the field. Don't be a spectator. Don't be a coward. Don't wait till you (or someone in your tribe) is the victim.

Malaysia is in fact an excellent example of what happens when you have racial quotas and do not adhere to meritocracy. It is a resource rich country, yet has fallen behind dramatically compared to its much tinier neighbor Singapore.
Wax said there was no science coming out of Malaysia. The letter tells us "This is patently false." The footnote it cites is to the OEC page for Malaysia, which lists the country's imports and exports.

Disparity (M:F not equal to 1:1) does not imply discrimination. Other factors need to be considered. In STEM, it is unlikely that the Nobel M:F ration will ever approach 1:1. M v F interests, career choices, higher male variability, etc. play crucial roles; not discrimination.
