Cumulative (dis)advantage theory says yes, but new evidence shows: NOT NECESSARILY! In a more equalized social context, the cumulative effect is almost negligible, and it is only in a more polarized context that a widening gap emerges.

Thank you all for replying! This tweet came from a late night discussion about how long top university academics usually work. And I’m surprised to hear some people work extremely long hours and think it’s “normal”. The reality check reassured me that I’m not “abnormal”.

Can anyone tell me if working 14 hours a day Mon-Fri and also working in the weekend are normal among Oxford academics? #Oxford.
