Users bid what they wants to get their transactions included in a block. So at equal levels of congestion, whether ETH is worth $1,000 or $10,000, the transaction fees will be the same. High ETH price doesn’t automatically mean high fees. 3/4.

Unlike gasoline, Ethereum transaction fees aren’t directly proportional to the dollar price of ETH. Fees are priced in gas price, which is measured in Gwei (a unit of ETH) and it fluctuates based on network demand, not ETH’s market price. It’s essentially an auction. 2/4.

@BattleJeff1 @sunnydecree the "ETH is oil" metaphor makes a lot of sense. ETH powers the Ethereum network which is the backbone of the next-gen finance, not unlike oil powered the then next-gen of the industrial economy back in the early 1900s (and we are largely still living in that paradigm). but here.
