So excited to be publishing this brilliant Irish debut, SUGARTOWN by Caragh Maxwell, with praise from Anne Enright ‘unsparing and affectionate, a crackling debut’ & Elaine Feeney ‘deeply affecting…a gut punch of a rollicking ride’. Out Sept, to pre-order: https://t.co/bbAoiE2A1l

Enjoyed the chats/readings with the great Nuala O'Connor @NualaNiC in Sligo Library @sligolib last week, Nuala was so generous & reflective with her responses. 🧐 In association with the Writing & Literature programme @WritingSligo at ATU @atusligo_ie

I'm a bit biased, but this really is a great programme. Literary studies and creative writing practice properly integrated in a single course, high contact hours and a great sense of camaraderie amongst the online cohorts...
If you've ever wanted to study literature or creative writing, but aren't able to join a campus-based course, then our online programme is for you! A three-year, full-time BA, delivered entirely online. Mature students are very welcome.

It this doesn't make you want to write poetry, there's no hope for you at all.

Look at this beautiful thing! Scrimshaw III (which launches today), entirely edited and curated by our brilliant 3rd-year ATU @WritingSligo students (also, we've a pretty decent view from the office...)

I think about this book all the time. If you haven't read it, welcome to a contemporary Irish classic #MinorMonuments by Ian Maleney

Very much looking forward to chatting to @ManchanMagan on Wednesday - about land, language, lore & more - for this month's edition of the Word at Sligo Central Library. If you're not in the vicinity, you can tune in online. @sligolib @WritingSligo

This should be a great read. Tim lectures now on Writing & Lit Program @WritingSligo. Wondering if he's going to lead me down some off-beaten tracks around my old haunt of Porthleven (I lived in a fisherman's cottage looking over the harbour). @MikeyboyWriter remember?
#TheGraniteKingdom paperback is on the way - out on 9th May, if you're interested in an armchair odyssey through #Cornwall with a side-order of debunked myths and a whole lot of pasties... https://t.co/DJWCpTpnav

It's almost time for this month's edition of #TheWord. Our own @Tim_Hannigan will be chatting to the great @ManchanMagan at Sligo Central Library @sligolib on Wednesday evening. A free event, with live music and an open mic to follow. https://t.co/f64hRT5mwQ

A new academic article from ATU Writing & Literature lecturer @Tim_Hannigan. Our lecturing team produces a formidable range of publishing outputs: creative work in diverse genres - from poetry to narrative nonfiction - and original scholarly research which informs our teaching.
Publication alert: my piece on travel writing and the Tamar as #Cornwall's imaginative (imaginary?) border in the excellent @OpenRiversUMN (a great model of what a scholarly journal can be - Open Access, interdisciplinary and with space for storytelling).

Excellent work here from Zuzana Podlova, a third year student at @WritingSligo.
We'd like to share some of the work done by our current third-year students, starting with Zuzana Podolova. Zuzana has developed a distinctive practice combining visual imagery and the written word over the last couple of years. See more of her work here: https://t.co/Lhq7ubdo5p

Grateful 🙏 “A deft and moving tale of love and loss on life’s cold margins, in which character is fate, and landscape is character.” Ed O’Loughlin, Giller Finalist & Man Booker Prize nominee

Two of many good reasons to study Writing & Literature at ATU Sligo: we have dedicated studio spaces for our student writers; and those spaces have pretty good views!
Not a bad view, from @WritingSligo writing studios, on a damp day - looking over at the snowcapped Dartry Mountains. #inspirational #getwriting

Why not follow @WritingSligo for updates and news on the ATU Sligo Writing and Literature Program! Full disclosure: I lecture there. That being said, it is as stated, "a unique three-year BA (hons) course, available both on-campus and online". https://t.co/nwNui9SD7f
