Throughout his years, he has been a member of the DuPage County Felony Investigative Team, Major Crimes Task Force and Sexual Predator Enforcement Team which are all Multi-Jurisdictional teams.

In 2018 he was selected as a Detective, promoted to Sergeant in 2019 and was recently promoted to Deputy Chief of Patrol Operations in the summer of 2022. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Roosevelt University.

Chief Zito started work with the Wood Dale Police Department in 2003 and has served in many roles. He has been a Patrol Officer, Taser instructor and coordinator of the program, Officer of the Year in 2007 and Officer in Charge of the afternoon shift in 2008.

Charges have been announced regarding Tuesday's incident where multiple shots were fired. Please see the attached images for details. We are grateful for our officer's initial response and support from surrounding agencies and M.E.R.I.T. Metro SWAT to resolve the incident.

UPDATE: The house has been secured and several subjects detained. Police will be on scene for several hours processing scene and gathering evidence. Residents nearby are now able to safely exit their residence. Thank you for your patience.

Our department remains on the scene of an active incident on Ash between Irving & Commercial. MERIT Metro SWAT is assisting. Confirmed that multiple shots were fired in this incident, no confirmed reports of injuries at this time.
