Hey folks 👋 I'm not spending much time on here these days. I'm hanging out more on the *other* platform, which reminds me much more of the Twitter of a decade ago.

At the @MuseumofWIArt today talking about the invasive #EmeraldAshBorer and its impacts as part of a program on Ho-Chunk black ash basketry. MOWA is one of the coolest venues I’ve ever presented at.

I’m considering playing this for Trick-or-Treaters tonight. Could use some spookier background music through…the intro music was surprisingly cheerful for the topic of flesh-infesting maggots. #HappyHalloween #Botflies

Spooky 👻 things on the @UWMadison campus. Recently spotted an ash tree in Muir Woods covered with millions of ash spider mites. The tree was coated in silken webbing for a good 20-30+ feet! The tubular structure is basically an icicle of pure mites + silk webbing! #Arachtober

This is probably the best year I've ever seen for #mantids in Wisconsin. I've had a flood of reports and sightings from southern WI over the last month. Now the mantids are just getting bold. This one is straight up mooning a doorbell cam:

Being a good #naturalist means making discoveries right in your own backyard. So far, the larvae (grubs) of this species have only been collected in a single spot in Wisconsin…. …just happens to be my backyard… . #insects
