First the Republicans said you couldn’t impeach before an election. Now they’re saying you can’t impeach after an election. And some of them say you can’t have elections.
Isaac Asimov died OTD in 1992. This quotation from 1980 holds up:
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States…. [It is] nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’”
Trump said Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg “should be impeached.”
Trump is the third president to be impeached and the first president who, after being impeached, doesn’t know how impeachment works.
Trump is holding these press conferences because he can’t hold rallies. Public health is not the point. He needs praise like he needs oxygen. His sycophants talk more than experts. Nothing about tests. It’s all about what Trump wants to hear, not what we need to know.
Yesterday the president accused his predecessor of treason, accused Democrats of rigging the election, called an ex-employee “a lowlife who should be in jail,” said we’d have fewer COVID cases if we had fewer tests, posted a racially charged video, and misspelled “history.”
“She had without exception the most stupid, vulgar, empty mind that he had ever encountered. She had not a thought in her head that was not a slogan.”
—George Orwell, 1984

2020 serve as a day of reflection, acknowledgement and education as we work to better inform ourselves, fight to remove unjust barriers to true equality and achieve the full realization of our founding ideals!
“If the good withhold their testimony, we shall be at the mercy of the bad.”
—Thomas Jefferson
“Wretched indeed is the nation in whose affairs foreign powers are once permitted to intermeddle.”
—Thomas Jefferson
“…surrounded by enemies and spies catching and perverting every word that falls from my lips or flows from my pen, and inventing where facts fail them.” -Thomas Jefferson’s reflections on Washington, D.C. in a letter to his daughter Martha.
Some things never change, dad!
Trump’s impeachment distracted him from preparing for a pandemic, but the pandemic did not distract him from firing the man he holds responsible for his impeachment.
Never put a criminal in charge of law enforcement, a lunatic in charge of public health, and an autocrat in charge of our democracy, especially not all at once.
“Words can be dangerous. Gov. Wallace never pulled a trigger. He never fired a gun. But in his speech, he created the environment for others to pull the trigger.”
—John Lewis
Trump’s insults distract us from his insanity, which distracts us from his scandals, which distract us from his failures, which remind us of his stupidity.
So far today, the president has accused someone of murder, accused Democrats of rigging the election, bragged about 100,000+ deaths, called a congressman a fraud, called the Speaker of the House crazy, and misspelled “too.” And that’s just on Twitter.

Trump wants to reopen the country because he cares about the economy more than public health. But he cares about the economy only because he cares about his reelection. And he cares about his reelection because he cares about not going to prison.
Your father said he hates New York “even more than I should,” called California “a disgrace to our country,” said Chicago was “embarrassing to us as a nation,” called Baltimore “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess,” and said Iowans were stupid.
You consistently make fun of half the country and then complain that it is divided.
The arrogance, mocking accents and smug ridicule of this nation’s ‘Real Elites’ is disgusting.
