BREAKING: A grand jury has indicted Joseph De Soto on not only terroristic threats, but on gross misrepresentations of his past. All of this information was sent to @WVGOP BEFORE they decided to help him get elected to the WV House of Delegates in 2024.
The Fantastic Life of Dr. Joseph De Soto: In my latest for @ACLU_WV, I teamed up w/ @AustinDizzy to dig into claims made by Dr. De Soto, the unopposed WV House of Delegates candidate for the 91st district. https://t.co/LLWn2DME6C Here are just some of the claims we dug in to. đ§”

As House Judiciary debates HB4433 (making it illegal to give an undocumented person a ride), the topic of jail overcrowding was raised by @HansenForWV. As of 1/14/26, there were 336 ICE detainees being held in WV's still very overcrowded jails.

UPDATE: Despite weeks of Gilmer County officials refusing to return calls/emails, I've been able to confirm with the state that the man who killed Tamir Rice was briefly hired to work there. Loehmann was employed there for 4 days before resigning in good standing.
UPDATE: The man who shot and killed twelve-year-old Tamir Rice just got rehired in West Virginia twice: once as a police officer at Snowshoe in June and once as a sheriff's deputy in Gilmer County in August. https://t.co/9DCEMey8lN

WV House Republicans to Delegate Masters right now:
Latest in the controversy over alleged antisemitic instagram comments linked to an account for Del. Ian Masters, R-Berkeley. House Maj. Leader Pat McGeehan, R-Hancock, now out with a statement defending Masters, who has denied authorship, and attacking state Democratic leaders.

As originally reported in @WV_Watch, the accountâs recovery phone number (which only displays the last two digits) matches Mastersâ cell phone. It doesnât get more clear than that, @wvhouse. https://t.co/vy5T44yzH9

This response from Speaker Hanshaw shows either a lack of knowledge on how the internet works or a willingness to turn a blind eye. The last two digits of account recovery phone number matching Mastersâ cell (as originally reported) shreds the âthatâs not my accountâ argument.
Alleged antisemitic comments made by a social media account linked to a recently appointed member of the West Virginia House of Delegates have brought on calls for an investigation by a Jewish lawmaker and leader of the state Democratic Party. https://t.co/Ht9vTMDCs7

And while former House Minority Leader Doug Skaff was acting as the president of a newspaper (and not as a govt official), he made headlines in 2022 for firing four reporters critical of a coal baron and asked the paper's IT dept to delete content about him from their website.

The @GrayMediaGTN affiliate is just the latest news organization in the state to make top-level decisions under pressure from a state government official. Notably, @wvpublic fired a reporter in 2023 after mounting pressure from then Governor Jim Justice's administration.

Holman said the station "does not publicly discuss internal editorial decisions." However, Morrisey's complaint about the article (written on a former politician's Facebook share of the article) shows the governor acknowledging that the article had since been corrected.

UDPATE: Sources at @WVVA say the station's GM Charity Holman made the decision to pull this article on Morrisey's comments about flooding after the governor complained on social media about his DIRECT QUOTE being misrepresented. When asked if Morrisey had reached out...
About a month after WVVA reported from a press conference that @wvgovernor Patrick Morrisey said "federal aid wasn't needed in the immediate aftermath of floods", the story has been removed from their website. Their video from the conference is still available on their site.

Hey, can someone tell Caiden Cowger that he can be a part-time employee of the State Auditor's Office, or an unregistered lobbyist, or a publisher of an unethical news website, but he can't do all of those things at once? Thanks.

Tell us more about these âbig spenders,â Pat
Donât let big spenders block the best opportunity West Virginia has had in years to establish a dedicated fund to wipe out our state income tax! Pass #HB 2014 in the Senate and put the people ahead of the big spenders! We finally have a chance to move the needle economically in
