We came close to amending the data center rule to protect streams & groundwater from massive water withdrawals. I sponsored this amendment w/Del. Bridges. While it failed 8-12, I wanted to thank the 6 Rs who voted w/me and Del. Young. This is only one step; the fight isn’t over!

I spoke in favor of HB 4696, to allow WV to accept hundreds of millions of federal dollars to clean up polluted coal mine drainage. Thank you President Biden and (mostly) Dems in Congress for passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that’s helping WV’s environment and economy.

My questioning of the sponsor of HB 4080 to force local elections for mayor and city councilor to be partisan. Thankfully this bill was pulled off the House Judiciary agenda this morning.

HB 4080 is a bad election bill that forces elections for mayor and city council to be partisan races. This legislature needs to let cities handle their own affairs.

I’ll be introducing two data center bills next session: one to restore local control, and the other to require public disclosure of water use. https://t.co/l17aTL0kwL

As pushback to data center projects has grown, lawmakers offer no clear plans to address concerns. Others have dismissed community worries altogether.
