Nothing highlights how badly the WIAA botched going to two divisions as the fact that the winners of boys sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 in 2019 are in the same section in 2020.
Garrett Larsen's 52 saves are a new state tournament record. Passing Shane Molanen (RWD 2011) and Glenn Walker (Verona 2003) who each had 48.

Hudson finished the Wisconsin portion of their schedule 24-1 and allowed a total of 22 goals in those 25 games. In the tournament series they allowed 7, 12, 12, 1, and 14 shots on goal. Only twice all year did WI teams score 3 goals in a game against the Raiders.

I've never seen anything like that. According to the official scoresheet University School had 1 shot on goal in that game. Hudson advances to their second straight championship game with a 6-0 win.

Dear WIAA,
Just because the goalie catches the puck in his glove does not mean it is a shot on goal. Half of those shots were well wide of the net.
Thank you,
Everybody
When the Badger women lost five in a row to start January and I saw people say it was time to move on from Mark Johnson.
If you were one of those people, kindly never speak again.
Ever wonder how Hudson and Eau Claire do it? Look at Bantams. Most cities don't have much in the way of 2nd year bantams, because 2nd year bantams are freshman and you need them for Varsity or JV.
Hudson has 32 Bantams this year. Eau Claire has 46.
That'll do it, the Hudson Raiders go back-to-back with a 6-2 win over Madison Edgewood in the division 1 championship game. This team is just dominant and relentless.

Furious furious offensive push by Springs at the end, but Rice Lake managed to hold on and win their first ever WIAA State Hockey Championship.

So HS Hockey practice starts tomorrow morning or afternoon. I’ve covered your equipment all week .
Last thing….
Be a good teammate to newcomers. A successful season starts in the locker room.
A parent at one of the 12U (Pee Wee) state tournaments this weekend walked in with a sign that said "Be Blind, Be Deaf, Be A Ref." (deliberately vague)
You sir, are everything wrong with hockey parents.
We don't get to see a lot of Wisconsin goalies playing D1 hockey (because prejudice). Hayward's Gavin Abric and the Army Black Knights got the 3 seed in the Atlantic Hockey conference tournament. They kick off the tournament with a best-of-three with Air Force tomorrow.
Dear schools: YouTube is the best streaming platform for your games if you actually want people to watch them.
Why? Because it is on nearly every smart TV, and it IS on every TV addon (AppleTV, Roku, Chromecast, FireTV, etc).
Don't force people to watch on their computers.
People complaining about today's D2 blowouts sure have short memories.
Five and seven-goal margins happen every year.
Two years ago Hudson won the state championship game 7-1 for crying out loud.
HUDSON WITH THE WIN! Hudson 3 Storm 2
Sydney Hendricks from Bailee Dierks!
Hudson will move on to play in the championship game tomorrow at 12:10 against the Fox Cities Stars!
Lots of Chippewa Falls fans here today. USM side has also grown quite a bit. Ignore the open seats right in front of me, the Chi-Hi band filled them up.

Tucker Wittkopf picks up a penalty for Pines for head contact. There was no head contact. Bergler got a wonderful picture of the check and it was textbook shoulder to chest.

It is baffling how the scoreboard can list one thing for shots, the announcers can announce something else, and the WIAA's official online scoresheet has a third shot total that doesn't match the other two.
Jake Bresser - Eau Claire Memorial
Braxton Collings - Regis/McDonnell
Cole Paskus - Madison West
Austin Redders - McFarland
Adam Parsells - Wausau West
Nick Techel - Wausau West
Zach Kennedy - Northland Pines
Despite being short handed this year, the WiPH staff still managed to see and write about 60 different teams. I think that is pretty good for a few volunteers with day jobs.
