When your former principal surprises you in TN just to see you play in your college game... THIS is WLS.
We love this surprise reunion between
@DRayyy__
and
@JennyWietro
Happy Birthday, Officer Preston! Panther Nation salutes your service, we thank you for all you do for our students and we pledge to be the change you’re waiting for!
Congratulations to Panther Nation’s newest firefighter! After 15-month hiring process with over 500 applicants, Whitmer Alumnus and former Panther (and Toledo Rocket!) football player Marquise Moore was 1 of 50 selected for this year’s fire class. We couldn’t be prouder!
Current Principal at McGregor Jerry Bell drove all the way to Maryland just to see these Panthers face off in their preseason NFL game. When we say our Panther Pride runs deep, WE MEAN IT! SO proud of our guys!
After their win today, the Whitmer basketball coaches were celebrating with lunch together when a terrible accident happened outside the restaurant. All 5 of our Varsity staff rushed to assist the man trapped inside, pulling him out to safety. We are so Panther Proud.
A good coach changes games. A GREAT coach changes lives. Whitmer Athletic salutes a man who most certainly did the latter, coaching not because he had to, but because it’s who he was. Mentoring was in his heart and though ours are broken, we got the biggest W in knowing him. 💙💛
Congratulations to a former Whitmer Panther Athlete, Travis Nimigean, who graduated with Honors on Friday at Lakland Air Force Base in Texas. We are so Panther Proud of you!
When you've sacrificed your body and your time every day to become a Track State Qualifier, missing your graduation is just another day in the life of an elite athlete. Good luck Panthers!
The winner of the 50-50 ticket this evening was Eric Sitter, owner of Sidelines Eatery. In a supreme act of generosity, Mr. Sitter donated it all back to the family of Jim Jacobs. This is truly what it means to be a panther. We are so proud to be part of this community!
Recently, a member of Panther Nation was tragically killed - a hero in the line of duty. Tonight we got to honor Brandon Stalker’s memory at our Baseball game. The family received a plaque and his daughter threw out the first pitch, as we saluted his service. Panther Proud!
The boys basketball season is over, but the lifelong lessons remain. We are so blessed to all the coaches who continuously pour into our students, at all levels, in all sports.
Sports are an activity.
Leadership is a lifestyle.
Panther Nation is a family.
@astacey34
First,
@stormnorton74
confirms he's coming to cheer on our Panthers tonight, and then
@Chris_Wormley43
shows up to let us know he is too! From Clegg to the NFL and a Panther is STILL a Panther!
PANTHER UPDATE: Alec Bukowski, a Whitmer 2017 grad in the Mechanical Engineering program is a freshman pitcher for UT Rockets baseball! He's heading down to Florida Thursday to play their season opener on Friday against Iowa!
We are so Panther Proud of you, Alec! Go Rockets!
"Ladies and gentlemen, this week Whitmer junior Ethan Zydel auditioned for American Idol and was moved to the next round to sing for producers in Chicago. Whitmer Volleyball is honored to have tonight's National Anthem sung by our very own Panther Idol, Ethan Zydel. "
EVEN MORE EXCITEMENT! WLS has just received word that ANOTHER Panther alum and outstanding former
@WhitmerFB
player was selected after an arduous 15-month journey as one of TOLEDO FIRE DEPARTMENTS NEWEST FIREFIGHTERS! Congratulations Jasean Rader- you make us SO PANTHER PROUD!
Long after the final buzzer… in an empty gym… Whitmer scorekeeper Rick Thomaswick has sat, for the last 54 years, reporting game numbers after keeping the log for boys basketball, every season since 1970.
He’s loyal. He’s kind. And he’s ours.
This is Panther Nation. ❤️
The final buzzer.
Their biggest game.
Team heads to locker room, distraught.
Suddenly, a tiny voice from the crowd.
“Antione! Antione! Can I have a picture?”
A child. Sees not the loss- just his idol.
“Of course, my man.”
BUILT DIFFERENT.
This is Panther Nation. 💙💛
Whitmer Athletics would like send a sincere THANK YOU to the West Toledo YMCA and Start High School for generously letting Whitmer Girls Basketball use your practice facilities the last few days. ❤ Your village lifted ours and we are so grateful!
Panther Pride!
@NIGEL_HAYES
and
@Chris_Wormley43
donated cleats to the first annual Delray Chance Angel Wings Foundation. Delroy passed away in April and was a football coach in Toledo Public Schools. The foundation will be giving away cleats to kids who need them!
Whitmer Athletics is proud to announce that, pending Board approval, our new Head Baseball Coach will be Mark Rabbitt!
Mr. Rabbitt has been an English Teacher at Whitmer for 17 years, coaching Whitmer Baseball for 16 seasons.
We are so lucky to have him leading our program!
Nothing better than one of the strongest female basketball players in your school’s history coming back to coach the next generation, with her experience and skill. Congratulations
@Maddog_Brown23
on your first team win as head coach!
Jack Haskin is headed to the OHSAA State Tournament!!! Jack defeated state projected
#3
Scott Richter of St. Edwards. Jack Will wrestle for a District Championship at 6pm!
How lucky are we to have something so wonderful that makes saying goodbye so hard? What a season, Panthers. We couldn’t be prouder to call you OUR team. Once a Panther…
PANTHER NATION! A Whitmer family needs our help, as their daughter (a WHS freshman and athlete!) was diagnosed with Lukemia last week. She started chemo and needs our Panther Power. Let's help her parents be by her side without worry.
Good luck to wrestler, Jack Haskins, who leaves for the State Championship today. This is only just beginning for you and we couldn't be prouder of you!
What do you do, right after being signed to another NFL contract?
If you are Storm Norton, you reach out to your old high school and sponsor a batch of tickets so students can go to their Final Four game in Dayton.
What an incredible gesture from an incredible person.
